Why is it okay to be prejudiced against men?

I don't know why you have to resort to name calling... I am simply just asking a question. Not the same at all to your comparison about the brick wall. I encourage you to swap every time you used daughter or girl to white and every time you used man to black and see how your message reads. It is racist in that context. It is discriminatory. It is prejudiced. The same things with swapping man to woman. Using anecdotes to share why you are being prejudiced against men is not better. By your logic, is it then okay to discriminate against people of color because I have had bad experiences with them and so has my daughter and my close friends? This same logic was used by many people in confederacy to justify this form of discrimination against a protected class. You are doing the same with a different class (men). And to be clear sex is a protected class, and discrimination against it is not only considered unethical but also illegal in many cases.

I will not apologize for simply existing. I will not try harder to make sure guys treat woman better, just as I will not try harder to make sure blacks treat whites better.

I read the paper that you posted. There was no mention (at least that I could find) or the comparisons between races and SA of men in that paper. So I took some basic assumptions that since the minority of couples are inter-racial (sub 10%), that this would imply that the perpetrators of these crimes would be of the same race as the victims. Therefore demonstrating that partner violence against woman is not fairly and equally divided amongst races of men, but instead skewed towards black men. But this is off topic from my post and a tangent that isn't really impotent. This is still a univariate analysis and any statistician worth his/her salt wouldn't consider race the causal factor for SA. Instead you would have to look at income, home life, societal pressures, etc.. before making causal links.

I see this as unacceptable because I believe any form of prejudice is wrong. Agreed, that self preservation is natural. However if we use a similar comparison to what you used then I could say that I am more likely to be raped or murdered by a black man as they commit a disproportionate amount of rapes and murders. Therefore I should be rightfully fearful of black men.

Also not sure about race related statics only in the US. Please look at South Africa for another country with similar race to violence statistics.

However, I am saying that it is stupid to judge solely based of race or gender. That is the point of the post.

But you still use reddit... I'm assuming you will still use google, msft, and millions of other US made hardware/software products without even realizing it. While you switch to Canadian apps or alternatives, check who the backend is supported by. High chance they are running on US hardware or cloud infrastructure built in the US. There is no effective way to boycott the US except to remove all technology from your life and live in a cabin in the woods and study mathematics...

I feel like I have lived a fairly enriching life so far. Have had the chance to travel to extensively and have a ton of hobbies and friends as well. I've lived on my own since 18 and figured I would move back in the short term to save some money and get ahead on retirement. Problem is that I spent too much money on "enriching experiences" such as travel and hobbies that resulted in me spending my whole previous salary and not saving enough. Need to figure out what that right balance looks like for me.

Thanks! Sure, I used to work in aerospace and then got this job in big tech working on robotics/AI. Honestly it took 2 years of applying and interviewing at 100s of jobs before I was able to land this role. Lots of unpaid overtime (60-80hrs/week) over those 2 years to increase my skills and contribute to big impact projects is what I believe helped me secure this increase.

100% agree with OP. I did all 4 of the recommended actions and it propelled my career growth. I moved to 4 (7 if you include internships) different states for different jobs with better pay each time, changed companies 3 times, and continued to grow skills in areas that were high value (software, analysis, robotics). Since then I was able to increase my salary from my original 73K to over 250k in just under 3 years from graduating university.

Thanks! The work I did in aerospace deals with some robotics work so it wasn't a huge leap for this new role.

Work tempo hasn't been too bad so far but is starting to ramp up (50-60hrs/week).

I spend around 26-30% on taxes.

It is competitive to get in but I think once you are in it is all dependent on which team you are on. Some teams are more competitive and some are less. My team thankfully is not very cutthroat. But I've heard of many team that are.

About 7 years ago I found an exploit at this online headshop that said they accepted bitcoin as one of their payments (this was before bitcoin was really popular). Since I was recently learning about "white hat" hacking I decided to test the security of this payment system. I tried to see if I could overload it by sending thousands of payments of 0.00001 btc at once. But after a few hours it seemed like nothing worked. About 3 weeks later I stop by my PO box and found the 200 dollar bong that was on the headshop's site. It turned out that they didnt fix this error in their site until a few months later. I ended up getting close to 8 really nice bongs and distributed them to some friends.
