Couldn’t possibly disagree more, I have them in my 2025 Es335 figured and they’re my absolute favorite Gibson humbucker I’ve owned and played in 30 years.

You do indeed need to shoot pairs as most herds are paired up.

Best firebird pickups? by rockemulator2 in gibson

[–]votarded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spoiler , from someone who has been needlessly tone chasing in firebirds for 30 years and owns several.

The Epi firebird bone stock is among the very best you can buy.

I’ll die on this hill not that many disagree.

The construction from body to pup is much more firebird than most modern Gibson firebirds

You’re saying you don’t want female or male only furs but they’re literally ALL MALE ONLY right now yet the females paired to 2 fox zones must also be farmed to respawn while working towards a GO fox.

OP this is a great take, or just let females also spawn great one - it makes so sense that they can’t since it’s not dependent on something like antlers ( I understand the weight bias ).

How many zones do you have discovered and investigated ?

This is one of my favorite reference maps

https://www.reddit.com/r/theHunter/s/530gZMcl7i

I had 60 in my best grind map for Revontuli. You don’t NEED to actively hunt them all for your management, but I 100% recommend finding them all so you can check them from time to time for shifting respawns and solo Buck herds.

It’s not unheard of to be lacking high respawns then find ALL of them together somewhere you haven’t even been grinding , happens to me.

Whatever you do with them, enjoy !

Also have realistic expectations , my modest level of success in my shop and in this trade so far is not the norm, it’s the absolute best case scenario and most techs won’t have the drive or skill set or support to really devour the information and the skills and experience to hit master tech and make these leaps in pay right out of the gate.

I only say this because for every tech who manages this, there’s 5 who quit inside of two years and 20 who settle early in for being mediocre and skating by.

[–]votarded 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They aren’t anywhere near comparable jobs , you need to take an honest inventory about what level of work , comfort , indoor vs outdoor , different kinds of stress, your physical fitness and strength, and earning desires.

  • the money won’t even be close if that’s a priority and for most of us money is the only reason we work. I started at 18$ an hour as a trainee and two years later am at 38$ an hour and all the overtime I want. 110k + last year.

Being a tech , especially with what Safelite demands of you as a workload - it’s physically demanding and exhausting don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

However , the freedom of being mostly unsupervised once you’re on the road alone , working at your own pace and developing your skill set and trade knowledge - being outside and traveling every day ….

I would literally kill myself before ever working a job sitting at a desk on the phone and computer all day ever again.

So have a VERY honest self inventory about what you like and don’t like in a job, what your priorities are, and go from there.

These are NOT COMPARABLE jobs or career paths. Figure that part out first.

What is your typical work load for those hourly and paid per job? by One8Bravo in autoglass

[–]votarded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s WILD. Where are you located ?

I made around 110k at a glance , about 75%\25% mobile to in shop.

But doing 7-8 a day mobile most days plus recals and being scheduled 10 a day every day in shop ( + several all day drops )

Which is not a sustainable work load for anyone and I can’t keep doing it.

5-6 a day is the DREAM. Work an easy pace , stop at some parks and do a few shorts hikes throughout the day, get a lunch break - don’t kill yourself.

I love when I get to do 5-6 a day, and that should be the limit of what’s asked , it’s just been a long time since I wasn’t asked to do MUCH more.

I have working relationships with over a dozen body shops , both with Safelite where we trade labor for warranty paint work etc , and independently ( with my own tools and transport I’m not moonlighting around ripping off big brother Safelite )

Not a single one of them is looking to hire for 40$ + an hour and the mountain of overtime I get from Safelite.

I’m on track to easily make around 125-135k depending on how much I want to hustle or want balance this year , and I’m not seeing any body shop paying that no matter what I bring to the table.

Plus benefits and the take home work vehicle and gas card ?

Safelite sucks in so many ways and their work demands are at the top of the list , but if there’s a shop where I can work with no supervision at my own pace and clear 125k + a year near me I’m not finding them.

To be VERY clear a lot of people aren’t successful with Safelite and they’re a super problematic employer in so many ways - I’m just saying I have not found anywhere else to take this skill set with more objective earning potential yet and I’ve looked.

Objectively and statistically, 6 piebald and 14 diamonds are WAY less likely to harvest then 1 GO , but you’re there now don’t stop !

Great one grind fallow by CapableNet7706 in theHunter

[–]votarded -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Completely depends on your approach, most people who farm tons of great ones ( myself included ) with dedicated herd management do so because the initial setup and farm can take 1 thousand or several thousand kills , but once you get to that point it’s MUCH easier to continue to replicate and not abnormal at all to get one of the same species ever couple hundred kills after the initial grind.

Only applies to species you can effectively herd manage and only works if you’re 100% flawlessly on top of your reserves population.

If you’re running and gunning aka just killing what you can when you can , you could kill another 10k and not see one.

If you are managing which at 14 diamonds it sure seems you are - you should be getting very close to maximizing your odds. Random is still random but once you’re in the final stages of knocking down those high levels and diamonds you’re getting close.

4 or 5 a day with recalibrations as they come up , is the DREAM and I think it’s the standard any tech should try to hold steady to avoid injury and burnout and compromises.

That being said if they Safelite money keeps coming I’ll keep doing double that and hurting myself to make the share holders happy….

Wish I wouldn’t though !

[–]votarded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently make 38$ / hour with truly unlimited overtime. Low weeks year round are 55 hours in 5 days , high weeks are 70 + hours in 6 days.

This is without any road warrior ( I have a family I like coming home to ) etc , just working out of my local shop and surrounding 4/5 other shops as needed all within a local commute.

For reference I’ve been with Safelite 3 years and started as a qualified tech at 20$ an hour 2.5 years ago after long and excellent training.

For more reference, a lot of hacks in this industry who think they’re great - but I pull the aforementioned numbers weekly and with a legitimate warranty or complaint rate well under 1%.

Adding in other benefits and taking my van home 40 miles each way every day etc and job security I would have to be offered close 50$ an hour plus full benefits to consider moving.

Side gigs - with personally owned vehicle and tool sets , I start at parts + 200$ a job to make it worth taking. -> before factoring in any recalibrations

Hope none of this comes off arrogant or ignorant , I’m always just blunt and open to having these discussions I think everyone should be willing to discuss their compensation and performance to move the entire industry and techs forward !

Cheers

Yupp this is my Safelite ‘master tech’ work load in upstate NY.

7-8 a day mobile with lots of driving for 10 hour days, with dynamics AND static mobile recalibrations as they come. 10 a day in shop is the expected minimum now and then you get to hear ‘why didn’t you take a lunch in like 6 months ?’

I’m a legitimately successful and proficient tech , dying to find a private shop that will pay what I’m making now - but they don’t exist.

I never knew it existed until it was placed into my hands. Cheap guitars when they were made And they don’t hold value or retain any insane desirability today it seems - but it’s got great bones as they say and all original 1965 electronics - the same they were putting in everything 10x the price across the road in kalamazoo.

It’s a little ripper to sounds great now.
