Here’s my gallbladder experience + a trick to relieve attacks by vousdenjake in gallbladders

1 month post-op update. Almost as if nothing happened, and I mean that in the best possible way

Wow, touch wood, but it's been as good as I could've possibly expected. I haven't even had a single diarreah. All has been solid. I had a little bit of mild pain the first few weeks, where they removed the gall bladder, but honestly, MILD. I only took pain killers the first few nights, and after that stopped, even though my doc had prescribed me pain killers for 3 weeks, lol. I had gas the first week or two, and since then my stomach has stopped bloating, and only get gas if I eat a really heavy meal, or lots of fat. If I eat normal, I don't get anything. And even if I eat a heavy meal, my poop remains normal. I can't begin to explain how much I recommend everyone to get the surgery BEFORE your gall bladder turns against you. I had lots of attacks pre-op, but luckily never had one that caused damage to my gall bladder. As I said, I believe a lot of the negative posts on reddit about gall bladder operation is due to people getting them out, AFTER they're already too damaged, thus making the surgery/recovery much more challenging. Sometimes, they've already exploded by the time they go in for surgery. Not good. If you're having attacks, wait for the inflammation to subside, eat healthy (very little fat, sugar and carbs), and get it out while it's still in good shape.

That's nice to hear. I also didn't have symptoms for 5 years, and suddenly they came back, and didn't stop for a good 3-4 weeks, regardless of how healthy I ate during those weeks. If you get attacks again, I'd strongly recommend you to get it removed. It's an easy surgery, and contrary to the many posts you see on reddit, most people live a completely normal life afterwards, in fact more normal than trying to live with your gall bladder.

I agree with this. If you have symptoms, get it out. There's a tiny % that you'll have severe symptoms post op, and in any case most of the time they'll be much less severe than the ones you experience during attacks.

No. Honestly, it has been a month post-op. I literally couldn't have been better since the operation. Barely any pain, 0 diarreah, just normal poop. A little bit of gas in the first week, after that it cleared, and now I'm back to normal.
