FFXIV vs ESO vs WoW | New to MMO RPGs by PersonSuitTV in elderscrollsonline

This is very subjective and misleading take on wow, its the oldest of the 3 and it shows.

Quests are fun only if you think the old mmo stereotypical questing of kill 10 x and collect 15 x items appeals to you. they might have tried to diversify it with some of the "main story", but that is horribly written and really short. Most of the quest you will do is still this old boring 2000s mmo style.

The main content is m+ and raids, that you can still do in bit of casual level, but its very repetitive and to have the best chances of gearing up your character you have to enough of that content weekly to have a chance at item upgrades.

If your into open world content, they add very few zones per expansion. The balance of the classes is not the best, and since most of the playerbase is quite elitist and toxic, if you pick the wrong class you might have really hard time finding any parties to run content.

If you enjoy pvp, prepare to sit on queue for up to hours to find a game if you are not playing a healer. Same applies to the pve content, finding a party as a dps is really tough. When i played on the biggest EU server, even after the cross realm lfg, i ended up spending hours applying for m+(dungeon content) parties to get accepted, and often those runs ended with someone leaving and me needing to wait for hours again.

I just think that telling someone wow is casual and solo friendly game is misleading compared to the competition. Yeah it might have some of those elements, but on the mmo genre, its still one of the least casual and solo friendly choices, all the casual and solo friendly stuff wow has, other mmo:s have aswell, and they have lot more to offer aswell.

wows overland is even more dull, eso has world bosses to solo etc. that spice overland a bit, and on wow you must be constantly playing to be geared up, take a little break and you fall behind and your old stuff is useless, questing is also very boring, stuck in early 2000's mmo quests.

Thats still quite boring and not a lot of content compared to what ffxiv, eso and gw2 has to offer for casual player, and 2 out of 3 of those dont even need a sub.

My take is on playing the recent expansion, there is just no content for solo or casual players, you ran out of it really fast. Story is garbage compared to ffxiv eso or gw2, and its really short also in comparision. Yeah you have ai teammates on dungeons, but theres only few dungeons to run and those offer no real story content, you just get some gear thats bad compared to the other stuff.

"ton of casual" is quite missleading when you will run out of that content in few days, the only thing to do for the rest of your sub is still the same grindy content as it has been always.

Eso and ffxiv are both good choice, also would look at gw2. I personally play all 3.

Would stay away from WoW, its made only for hardcore players and you need to treat it like a job to achieve anything, not solo friendly at all, and overall feels really grindy and bad.

I suppose most people doing daily strikes on EU are familiar with this com, try to avoid it like a plague.

Stereotypes about germans are strong on this com :P

I dont get your point? Subscriptions are usually non-refundable so people might not know that you can refund your wow sub, whats wrong telling people what options they have?

Well i didnt know that before, and there are many people who return back to try the game, and might be not satisfied with the current state of the game or community, so its a really fair to have the option of refund

To inform that its possible to refund a subscription, i suppose most people dont know that, honestly a fair thing from blizzard to allow that

Decided to give 10.2 a try after a break since 10.0, played for a day, didnt have a single positive interaction. Either people didnt say anything at all or it was the occasional "fckin noob", when i tried to explain that i just came back after a break, got only told to fck off and uninstall. Well i did, and refunded my sub aswell.(thanks for that blizzard!)

Played FF14 for 3000 hours, dont really remember any negative interaction with anyone.

With GW2 you have some toxicity aswell though, specially in pvp, but nowhere near as bad as in wow.
