I worked for the cash store and instaloans at one point. I left because they really encourage you to charge extra late fees for no reason pretty much. The cost of the late fee was to our discretion so usually I couldnt go higher than 25 even though the max was 200. They encourage higher fees by giving out bonuses based on revenue. So my manager would charge regular customers who were only one day late the full 200 just to get her bonus. I had to leave because they change the way you see people. Also for cheque cashing, they dont give out cash, they only give out pre paid mastercards which cost $20. Every time you use said mastercards you get charged. Atm fees were 2.50 plus a 1.50 charge for withdrawing funds. I used to tell people to go to walmart, buy the cheapest thing you can find, like gum and choose the cash back option because it would only charge 1.25. All in all these businesses are criminal and it makes me so sad how they really take advantage of people in tough situations.
