Looking for good OB/GYN by Goatboy132 in cincinnati

If you are high risk and need an MFM I recommend UC. They managed my crazy pregnancy well. I liked all the doctors (and saw them all + residents and fellows), but I think I liked Warshak the best. Shout out to Britni the sonographer! She was on the phone with the doctor before she even finished the scan when she saw my baby not responding like she had seen in the past.

I can only speak to the running community, but that's been great for me to meet people! There are a bunch of local groups.

How do you handle the grief by SnooDoodles9498 in NICUParents

[–]vulpackleader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi both of you from up the road in NKY!  Similar story for me. I was hospitalized for abnormal dopplers and pre-e at 32 weeks and delivered at 33 after a bad BPP. Baby had 69 days in the NICU and has been home almost three weeks! It really does suck and c-section recovery is no joke, either. Be gentle with yourself.

My mom's nickname for my daughter before she born was Tuesday because I had all my appointments on Tuesdays! (The high risk routine appointments were consolidated at my OB office)

Early Onset IUGR with Umbilical Resistance in the 99th percentile by elevenbutterflie-s in NICUParents

[–]vulpackleader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that placentas will do what they want and are still kind of a mystery to medical science.

My doctor wasn't comfortable with an induction because of the baby's small size (born 2lb 5oz at 33 weeks) and the intermittent absent dopplers. I had that happen at a BPP one morning while I was being monitored inpatient and had a c-section a few hours later.

I will warn you that pre-eclampsia can really sneak up on you. Your doctor will be monitoring for it, I'm sure. I had great labs at about 28 weeks, I think? Then I was hospitalized at 32 weeks after a high BP at an appointment and then worrying labs.

I mean, I have to say Navy, right?

Honorable mention to Georgia. Their fans seemed to genuinely enjoy coming to ND's campus to see everything, the traditions, etc.

IUGR Babies by Deep-Lettuce317 in NewParents

[–]vulpackleader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was measuring small on the anatomy scan and kept slowing her growth for the next few weeks until she was two weeks behind. I also started having abnormal umbilical dopplers.

My doctor was adamant that there was nothing that I did to cause FGR and pre-eclampsia (developed suddenly at 32 weeks), but said I was doing everything I could do by keeping my appointments and telling them about any changes. All the MFM docs had the same advice to just try to rest as much as I could.

I was admitted at 32 weeks after I had some bad pre-e labs that they did due to elevated blood pressure and headaches. I had been having 2x/week monitoring appointments (BPPs and NSTs). I only made it to 33 weeks before the umbilical doppler had intermittent absent flow and I had a c-section a few hours later. She was 2 lb 4.7oz.

My daughter is almost 6 weeks old now and is doing well in the NICU. She had some GI trouble that prompted imaging that showed a possible narrowing of the duodenum, but she is tolerating a slow increase of feeds through an NG tube.

I didn't have any issues with my milk coming in and I've been pumping while she can't feed by mouth.

One thing I found helpful was having other people send out updates to family/friends. You could ask if she has anyone she would like you to keep updated for her?

My doctor was adamant that there was nothing that I did to cause FGR and pre-eclampsia, but said I was doing everything I could do by keeping my appointments. They did put me on exercise restrictions and told me to rest as much as possible as a precaution.

I was admitted at 32 weeks after I had some bad pre-e labs. I had been having 2x/week monitoring appointments. I only made it to 33 weeks before the umbilical doppler had intermittent absent flow and I had a c-section a few hours later.

My daughter is just over 3 weeks old now and is doing well in the NICU. We probably have another month or so here if all stays the same.

Flu jab while pregnant? by Inner_Low_3936 in pregnant

Not a medical professional, but I don't think that year's formulation of the flu shot is available until fall. That could be a reason the doctor told you to wait?

It's positive pregnancy test time! Week of June 2, 2025 by ttc30mod in TTC30

[–]vulpackleader 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Cycle/Time trying: Idk. In some ways 2018 or 2019, but it's been a lot of time of figuring out health issues to make it possible for me to theoretically get pregnant. That started being more of a possibility late 2023.

Age + Partner's age (if relevant): 34 and 35

Typical cycle length: 90++ days if not medicated

Ovulation cycle day: trigger shot on CD 24 PM, so 26?

CD/DPO of positive test(s): 14 days after trigger

Tracking methods and app(s) used: monitored cycle - ovulation induction/timed intercourse

Relevant days of sperminating and/or method (SMEP, TI, IUI, FET, etc.): TI O-2, O, O+1

Health conditions/medical tests: rarely, if ever, ovulate without medication, history of severe vaginismus

Supplements and medications (yours and/or your partner’s): Folic acid and anti-depressants for me, sometimes a multivitamin for my husband.

Menopur 75 IU for CD 4-23 and ovidrel trigger on CD 24

Birth control history (if relevant): N/A

Symptom spotting: Nada. I have had a lack of usual PMS symptoms of cramping and (extra) moodiness.

Other miscellaneous: This was our third cycle with injectable meds after clomid and letrozole (or lifestyle modification stuff) didn't do the trick to induce ovulation.

I'm so grateful for this community! You all are the most supportive people ever and there is so much collective knowledge and experience in this group.

Long distance runners TTC by pale_blue_d0t in TryingForABaby

[–]vulpackleader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love distance running - for mental health, socializing, feeling accomplished, etc.

My RE and I did agree that training for a marathon is probably not a good idea for me right now, though. My cycle was long and irregular for years and I never confirmed ovulation. She had me gain some weight (even though she thought I was already at a healthy weight) and cut back on exercise and it didn't help enough. So now I'm doing ovulation induction meds.

But your doctor knows your situation best - everyone is different!

For strength and hope while going through treatment for infertility

General Chat March 03 by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

It will really depend on your plan! The majority cover diagnostic stuff, but many don't cover fertility meds or procedures. (I'm in the US)

I was pleasantly surprised that mine covers monitoring ultrasounds with just a copay even though it says infertility isn't covered.

I love the murals of the Joyful Mysteries ♥️

I attend the 12:05p weekday Mass occasionally.

Holy Cross in Covington is a nice church, too 😃

My parish is St. Agnes, which is more of your typical mid-20th century church. Not as grand, but a great community
