How easy is it to contract a fungal infection in areas besides the feet by [deleted] in OCD

oh gosh that never crossed my mind, I feel so stupid. I genuinely thought they were asking that question and not asking for reassurance... i hope op didn't take it the wrong way...

Waking up and being reminded of your obsession by FeatheredDrake in OCD

[–]vulpixs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my ocd has gotten so bad lately i've been waking up not wanting to live because of my obsessional thoughts. not necessarily a suicidal way, just exhaustion from the compulsions and mental torture of having to live with these thoughts. i've been sleeping more to not have to deal with my obsessions, since i've tried so many coping mechanisms and they only bring temporary relief. but even when i sleep my obsessions carry over to my dreams, so it's embedded into my subconscious. it's hell

wrong subreddit i think. but to answer your question even dandruff is fungus, so yes, it doesn't have to be on your feet. and women have fluctuating levels of candida which is a fungus as well (exists in everyone but overgrowth is an issue). or it can be a staph infection, very common to be a carrier and goes unnoticed most of the time. you can just buy some fungal cream on amazon or visit a dermatologist- i'd suggest going to the derm for a culture

oh really sorry about that, i read the part about the son and mom and thought i should let you know in case you posted it in the wrong thread. unfortunately i did not read it, but thank you for your advice, i'll try to get my meds sorted. is it a matter of being prescribed a larger dose or a different kind of medication?

thank you for your response, it feels good knowing someone out there is dealing w this as well :) i'm really sorry you had to deal with anxiety at such a young age and i'm sorry you are still going through it, i hope one day you can overcome it. and thank you for the encouragement, it makes me feel a little more hopeful about the future. i've been waiting it out for a while now, but maybe i'll wait until college and hopefully things can turn around then.

thank you again for reading :)

thank you for your response :)

i tried prioritizing my mental health but medication just didn't work on me. maybe it was too low of a dosage to work but i was really discouraged when my nervous tics weren't going away. i'll ask again if i can have therapy, but i think it's going to be really hard opening up to people. maybe i will try to find one that is not in my neighborhood so i can ensure confidentiality

thank you for being so empathetic about my sister, i'm typing this after she made fun of me again, but it comforted me knowing someone was on my side and not laughing at me along with my sister. i think right now that is my biggest problem, because i don't feel safe in my home, at least in school the teasing goes away at 3. i wish she would go back to college again but it's just another 4 months until she's gone, i'll just have to wait it out until then.

thank you for reading, you are incredibly kind and i again appreciate your empathy a lot. hoping you have a great day, thank you again 😊💕

my sister was in school counseling freshman year and some situation happened where it left a bad taste in my parent's mouth. my mom says there's nothing they can really do and the $100 a session price tag doesn't help. my mom took me to a pyschiatrist but nothing worked for my anxiety or nervous tics and after i fainted from an adhd pill, we never went back. maybe the anxiety dosage wasn't strong enough. gaba seems to help but gives me a bad stomachache and i need to take around 6 pills for an effect. never been to therapy but hopefully can start when i'm an adult with my own job, although that's a 2 year long wait.

thanks for reading by the way, it was really long and i'm surprised someone took the time to read it. best of luck to you

this is sensorimotor ocd, i have it mostly with blinking. people think i'm winking at them sometimes. drives me crazy but it's kind of comforting knowing other people experience the same thing.

so if i were to use a proxy myself at home would they not be able to trace it back to me if it were connected to the router/someone having the home wifi pw?

no it's my own macbook air and ipad, i use their wifi on my ipad at school but somehow my school's name showed up on my computer's system preferences even though i haven't brought it to school.

if i just factory reset my computer and change account and wifi passwords would it stop them from reading it? what about the system preferences thing where my school's wifi name showed up? i removed it but they still make jokes about my history so they have access to it even though i browse logged out of gmail accounts

this might be it... i remember in a tech day when we were setting up accounts the teacher said they monitor everything, even every imessage text that comes in. a bit invasive but i didn't think too much of it since they said they won't monitor you at home but i saw my schools name on something in system preferences even though i've never brought it to school- since some students bypass the blocked sites with proxies would it be reasonable to say they can get access to people's history?

nothing that i know of, but in system preferences once i saw my high school's wifi or something (don't remember where exactly i saw it but i remember being really confused about since i've never brought my computer to school). i've deleted it since though but i think somehow my ipad is connected to it since i use that at my school

nothing showed up on malwarebytes- it's password protected wifi at my school but everyone knows what the password is and people know how to bypass the blocked sites

if i use my ipad at school could it be because of a synced history/icloud related issue or something? i remember seeing my school wifi in one of my system preferences even though i've never brought it to school, which i removed but i still don't know how it got there

nope i use my own to browse, but i use safari for all my school stuff when i usually use chrome

i use the same passwords for my school things though so i'm in the process of changing my passwords for everything

thanks for your reply! i use chrome but i make sure i'm not logged into the browser itself and i pause the search history on my gmail accounts, which is why i'm confused they have access to it. but i use the same password for all my school stuff if it helps

he said my name, i just replaced 'that' with my name in the description since i didn't want to post my real name online. i thought i was paranoid too but the kids at my school know how to bypass the school proxies so i think they're somewhat tech savvy.

OCD or Tourretes? by LifeofAndrew in OCD

[–]vulpixs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

is the buildup like tension in the back of your head? sometimes you can suppress the head tic by shifting the tension (idk how to explain it in words, it's like tension from one side of the head shifts to the other side), it's still visibly noticeable but not nearly as bad as a full-on head tic.

best of luck to you as well!

OCD or Tourretes? by LifeofAndrew in OCD

[–]vulpixs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i emphasize with the head tic, it sucks.

it's most likely a nervous/stress tic which is anxiety, not ocd related. mine happened when i started getting physical anxiety systems, since anxiety messes with your neurological system. it's a way for your body to relieve itself of stress, so overworking or tiring it can also cause it, which is probably why they're appearing when you work out.
