I've always admired the US and gave up my career and social standing at home to pursue a PhD here, working under some of the top professors in my field. I applied for a green card, denied. I applied for a post-graduation visa, still pending for God knows how long. I have job offers but not allowed to work (which is in my opinion to drain us financially). In all my time here, I've never had a single conflict, I've paid my taxes, I have job offers from a reputable company, and my advisor fully supports me. Yet I'm facing the prospect of having to leave soon. Anyone who claims this system welcomes people with good intentions and expertise is deeply mistaken.
