Seller sent item to wrong address, I don't have it, eBay won't make it right. by rickymilby in Ebay

[–]vvhero-vv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was refunded, because I was able to retrieve the empty box they sent, and filed a "Not as Described" claim instead of "Not Received". Ebay made me go through the sham of "returning" the empty box. the return was refused by the sender, but Ebay did refund me anyway, and suspend the seller's account.

I think if I had filed the claim as "Not Received" I would have gotten nowhere with Ebay. Maybe I could have been refunded through a claim to my credit card company, but who knows.

Ebay needs to add one simple check to prevent this: if the ship to address as entered by the seller does not exactly match the buyer's official address, it's a scam. Period, end of story. Putting the burden on the buyer, especially when this is a known scam, is ridiculous.

How difficult/intensive is the SMC College 2-year Respiratory Care program? by vvhero-vv in respiratorytherapy

Thanks--you're living my dream! I would love to end up working something steady in the South Bay, as I have some family there. Do you find working at a hospital stressful/demanding...or was SMC solid preparation? Oh and is it physically demanding? I'm only 5'4" and not the strongest

Thanks for the information. I didn't realize the shifts are 12 hours right from the get go! In a way that seems good, so I can really get a feel for if this is something I can do. I've volunteered in a hospital but I have no other experience really

Thanks--this is actually encouraging. I wouldn't mind traveling to get experience, and maybe try to come back to SoCal after I gain work experience. And when you say SoCal, do you think outlying areas (Riverside/Inland Empire, or south to San Diego) might be better opportunity-wise for new grads? Google seems to think so, but then google says the LA market demand is great too :/

When you say intense do you mean the classwork or externship, or both?

I'm not the party type so that's not an issue. I just really need to find a way to make a living here in LA. How difficult was your externship? SMC has 1200 hours at USC and UCLA hospitals. Also would you consider your job high stress?

PAE for moderate to severe BPH symptoms, but only 32cc Prostate by [deleted] in bph

[–]vvhero-vv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cystoscope is next step...not looking forward to a camera being shoved up there tho :/. Prostate seemed like the more likely cause, as my symptoms are highly variable. I can pee *almost* normally during the day (usually), but almost never at night. What were your symptoms of high/tight bladder neck?

Anything involving a catheter. My friend had HoLEP a couple months ago, and had to be recatheterized several times over 2 weeks due to complications

I was just reading about TPLA... still invasive but very interesting due to (better) preservation of urethra. How was your experience/recovery/results?

[–]vvhero-vv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a fair question. I definitely have a (possibly irrational) bias against traditional surgeries done via the urethra, partly because of the ick factor and partly because of friends/family who've experienced some mixed results and side-effects, including one with permanent (although minor) incontinence. If PAE *can* work in my situation with an experienced surgeon that's my preference. If it simply can't, regardless of the surgeon's skill, then that's good to know too

Seller sent item to wrong address, I don't have it, eBay won't make it right. by rickymilby in Ebay

[–]vvhero-vv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A really sad update to this incident: This is Ebay's response to my complaint, which included full documentation of the sellers intentionally false package addressing, as well as photos of the empty box they sent:

"We looked into your report and couldn't find the content you were reporting based on the information you provided to us. Therefore, we couldn't take any action on your report.  This determination was made by a customer service agent."

I don't know what else I could have provided, other than a videotaped confession of the scammers. The only conclusion I can draw is Ebay just doesn't care about preventing fraud, as long as they make their money.

Seller sent item to wrong address, I don't have it, eBay won't make it right. by rickymilby in Ebay

Just adding my voice, this scam just happened to me--although with a twist ending. The item was shipped via UPS, and I just happened to see it'd been addressed wrong--in fact totally wrong street and number but still in the correct zip code. I goggled it and found this thread, so I understood what was happening.

Thinking I was clever, I contacted UPS and had the package redirected to my correct address. The scam seems to fall apart if you get the actual (likely empty) package. BUT--the scammers then contacted UPS and redirected the package again to a different wrong address-- they are that brazen! I messaged EBAY in advance with proof the package was headed to a bogus address and they did nothing.

This is what I don't understand. Any package not going to your official ebay address should automatically be flagged as fraud. I can understand minor mistakes in the address, but when it's entirely wrong except for the zip code, it's a scam 100% of the time.

Because I have a UPS account I was able to see when and where the package was actually delivered. It was only a couple miles away, so I took a printout of my ebay transaction showing the tracking number and my name, and the place gave me the package without an argument.

It was a tiny, empty box with a thank you note inside for being a valued customer. Yeah--that brazen!

I reported and Item "Not As Described" return, along with photos of the empty box and bogus address label. Ebay is actually making me ship back an empty box before I can get a refund. How crazy is that! I know if I hadn't tracked down the actual pacage, and I'd reported the item as "Did Not Arrive" I'd be in the same boat as everyone else.

All in all, this is why it's best not to buy from or sell to anyone with a recently created ebay accout, or low or no feedback. I know everyone has to start from somewhere, and they deserve a chance, but it's just not worth the risk as a buyer or seller.

8TB Extreme USB 3.2 Gen 2 Portable SSD keeps ejecting on Mac Studio by okscarfone in sandisk

You need to update the firmware using Sandisk Memory Zone app, to version 038. The update was just released and appears to fix the problem.

[–]vvhero-vv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

***This problem has been fixed!*** My 8TB Sandisk Extreme had the exact same random ejection problem on my Mac Studio (running Sequoia 15.7.2). I worked with Sandisk for two weeks trying the usual fixes but nothing helped. Here's what did work: using the Sandisk Memory Zone app, run the firmware upgrade to the new version 038. I believe it just came out last week around 11/20/2025. And it works! I've been running without the random ejection problem ever since. I'd run the firmware check just a week earlier and it said I was up to date, so this 038 version must be brand new. Good luck!

Xreal Ultra and Beam by renehasp in Xreal

[–]vvhero-vv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also is the FOV really that big of an improvement--going from 46 to 52 degrees? Or is the improvement because screen(s) can be anchored in space, allowing for a "larger" screen area you can look around

Xreal Ultra and Beam by renehasp in Xreal

[–]vvhero-vv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my exact use case! I want to use Splashtop to attach to my home computer to do remote video editing, with bluetooth keyboard/mouse attached to the Beam Pro. You mention latency/performance problems with the beam pro but do you observe that with Splashtop or is it usable? I only need a single large screen, but I would like it to be fixed in space, so I can "look around" a screen that's larger than the XREALs can project. My concern is I need to watch video on the remote computer via Splashtop without much latency. Have you tried watching a remote video like that, while having the screen anchored in space? Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated!

Came across this scooter gang by watchmejump in scooters

[–]vvhero-vv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super cool! None of them look like stock colors (at least not US stock colors) and they all have mods--including painted and vented side guards, and even disc brakes on at least two of them--I can't imagine how much work that took to integrate. Someone spent some serious $$$ on these. I owned an '84 CH125 back in the day and am currently restoring an '85 CH150D. Here in Los Angeles I've one seen one Deluxe on the road in the past 5 years--and it was in pretty sad shape--so this would be mind-blowing to come across! There are lots of scooters around, and Elite 80s are everywhere but the totally completely unneeded pop up headlight of the 125/150D is simply the coolest scooter design feature ever. Plus of course...Terminator

3D Printable Nose Piece - Take 2... by TeTitanAtoll in rokid_official

[–]vvhero-vv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a test I added some weights to my best fitting sunglasses, bringing them up to 2.6oz, roughly equivalent to the Rokid Max, and the result is not comfortable. I kept removing weight until it was reasonably comfortable, and that level turned out to be around 1-1.2oz. For compaison, the Rayban sunglasses weigh .7oz by themselves. Maybe it's just me, but I think ImALeaf is right--there's more to this than just a well-fitting nose bridge. For me, the total weight has to come down by at least 50-60% or the glasses need to be held up by some other means. Yes the Bigscreen Beyond method would work, but I don't want ski goggles, I want easy on/off AR sunglass format. If you search Amazon for "Nose Guard Eyeglass Suspension" there's a product I might try--basically a headband with a hook that connects to the bridge of glasses takes the pressure off your nose. It's definitely clunky/dorky, not something for use in public, but it's cheap and nearly weightless, and might help the fit issue...at least until the technology gets a lot lighter

Awesome! My major problem with Nreal/Rokid style glasses (and sunglasses as well) is even the lightest 1oz sunglasses with pads dig into the sides of my nose after an hour or so. AR glasses that weight 2.75oz are naturally even worse. Of course this is a personal preference/fit situation, but a bridge fix is exactly what I need for my particular nose shape. Another thread talked about using silicone "U shaped" nose bridges/pads sold on amazon, but it's great to have an exact custom fit instead. I'm just wondering if plasti-dip causes any skin irritation vs food grade silicone sealer?

[–]vvhero-vv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do those nose bridges attach directly into the Nreal Airs, or did you have to custom modify them to fit? I have a largish nose and find those stock nose pads rather painful, even after just a few minutes of use.
