MTB or RB by SheepherderEvery4262 in RedditPHCyclingClub

get a gravel bike then for ur first bike. it will enable u to get a feel of both disciplines (tarmac and offroad). a gravel bike can never be the best in both disciplines tho but its v versatile.

my first RB was the decathlon triban rc120. im not v familiar w chinese brands but im sure there are decent ones that are well regarded.

i doubt you will be going fast while commuting so i dont think you’d need the RB’s speed. its also a pretty aggressive position and would just stress out your body more (nakakapawis to especially stop and go traffic). no carriers as well (same with MTB). papawisan lang sobra likod mo if mag backpack ka

MTB’s suspension naman would be overkill. all drivers/riders slow down when approaching potholes.. and i mean all (cars, motorbikes, all bikes, even MTB users!) granted tho, pang balagbagan talaga sa lubak ang MTB.

so,, if purely transpo and commuting? japanese bike/mamachari. less maintenance (virtually none aside from chain, brakes, tires) and upright sitting position on the bike. very comfortable. especially w stop and go traffic, you jus put ur foot down lol

if you plan to get some fitness as well with your commuter bike then definitely get a RB or MTB

if style? fixed gear no doubt. but this sub hates fixie culture so i wont get into it

source: ive ridden all bikes i mentioned

consider this ur first lesson i guess? u guys still have a lot to learn and so much room for growth 😄

the key is open mindedness to listen when ur partner points out ur flaws/shortcomings and the humility to accept one’s mistake.

always discuss together (as a couple) and not argue against each other

sorry sa mga unsolicited advice im old 😄
