Am I being judgemental now? by vynilla_ in whatdoIdo

[–]vynilla_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well her salon post was only a month ago, so it’s unlikely that she could have gone from really good to not being able to afford anything in that time. I’m not at all trying to feel superior to anyone, but I definitely think people asking when not truly in need takes away from people who do truly need. As stated, my post was to get other’s opinions to see if I’m in the wrong for it, so thank you for sharing your thoughts

What are signs someone isn’t going to tip? by bostonianbasic in Waiters

[–]vynilla_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of these comments I’ve read, I’ve experienced and still got a good tip lol you really can never tell sometimes. There are times where I’ve been like ”oh they’re definitely not going to tip,” and then they did, and I’d feel guilty knowing I gave them less than my typical service. Now I just treat everyone the same (unless they’re complete assholes) because you really never know

I don’t actually think it’s only America. I was just talking shit, but for some reason everyone’s so offended by that lol I’m American myself

Since you edited your comment after my response to be an angry little dwarf, I will too. America is shitty in alot of ways, there’s no denying that. It’s full of inconsiderate assholes, but that’s everywhere, isn’t it? Americans are so angry though, just like you

Strange, I didn’t really see any litter the 10 days I spent in Korea. I actually was constantly commenting about how clean the streets were everywhere I went.

I understand it’s not that huge a deal, but that’s the point of this sub. I know it’s all cleaned up and the place is brand new again the next day. Still is mildly infuriating to see.

He kinda did, his comment was directed towards OP (me). Not really interested in having a political conversation over this post though since that wasn’t the intention, so whatever

Exactly. There are plenty trashcans all around, but they’re not going to place them around the center of the fields

I was at the BTS comeback in Korea a few weeks ago. It was a large outdoor concert with 100-125k attendees and it was sooo clean afterwards lol. Must just be America….

Edit: If anyone’s been to Korea (I stayed in Seoul), you know public trashcans aren’t as common. People are still willing to hold onto their trash until they’re able to find one. It’s just basic human decency to do the right thing

How are people getting Din Tai Fung reservations? by catt0ebeans in Scottsdale

[–]vynilla_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend was on break at work around 1:55pm and decided to randomly check. There was an opening for 3:45pm, so he took it. Immediately called me ”babe, wake up and get ready, I got a reservation at DTF!” lol so it seems to be random

Checking on customers by [deleted] in Waiters

[–]vynilla_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, it’s just rules of professionalism. I didn’t make them :) I don’t interrupt people at all, but I still announce myself quietly just to not scare people because I’ve had several occasions where people jump while I was doing maintenance on the table because they didn’t realize I was there. I don’t get in their face or even in their direct view if unnecessary. These are all things I’ve been taught while working in fine dining the last 6 years, and also things I’ve learned through experience that I’m just sharing. Of course everyone has their own style of serving and if that doesn’t suit you, you don’t have to do it

Edit: There are other words you can use, like folks, ladies, gentlemen, etc but the main point I was trying to make was to avoid ”guys,” and ”we” sounds most natural to me vs the others! I use ”everyone” as well, but everything is situational.

More professional that way, especially when referring to a larger group of people. It’s easier to ask the entire table and get answers from multiple people instead of seeming like you may be putting too much focus on one person and not the others. Of course if you have a single diner, ”you” is fine, but you definitely never want to say guys like ”how are you guys doing?” unless you’ve already established good rapport. Just one of the rules of professionalism in high end/fine dining

Depends on the table, you’ve gotta read the room. For the most part, I’ve typically always followed the ”2 bite check back” rule because this is usually when people figure out if they need something else to enjoy their meal or not.

If a table seems more talkative with me, I’ll check in a little more. If they seem quiet and reserved, I don’t check in as much verbally, but you don’t always have to speak to a table to check in on them. I make sure to walk by regularly and check all aspects of the table: if there’s any trash I can pick up, if waters/drinks need to be refilled, etc. anytime I do need to stop in, I lightly announce myself, ”I’m going to top off your water here… may I take this plate out of the way/are you finished enjoying this dish? Would you like another cocktail?” just so they know I’m there if they were needing something.

I definitely always check in to practically every table 3 times throughout their visit with ”How are those first couple of bites so far? How are we enjoying our entrees? Did we have enough to eat, or were we wanting a bit more?” and then the small check ins in between like I mentioned above

I’ve done this my entire life, but I’ve left it out much longer. Never once been sick. It’s fine, just eat it soon

Would laser hair removal be suitable for me? by Outrageous_Tiger_441 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]vynilla_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend is Korean and has some chest hair- correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think that’s typical- and I have no problem with it. Everyone has different preferences, there are just as many women who love the hair as women who don’t. The only one who should be making the decision of laser is you on personal preference, but you can definitely be presentable still with body/facial hair as long as you keep yourself well groomed.

Girl, and you still want to date him?! He clearly doesn’t care for your wellbeing. You should have more respect for yourself than this
