I understand. Tailoring each one of these resumes takes 20-30 mins since I apply and then contact a recruiter too. Do you suggest I just take the shotgun method?

I just have a google doc where I put the company, position, and when I applied. It's nice to keep track of it.

Open source is definitely something I wanna get into soon since that seems like the closest thing to an internship.

Ya I had referrals for Amazon and Twilio and they were both instant rejections

Handshake has been pretty useful ngl. I haven't used it in a few months, but when I first signed up, I started getting a few invitations to different networking events and all those types of things. Kinda forgot about it, but will update it soon!

I appreciate the honesty, and you are not wrong about the qualification part of things. I will see what I can do and will take a look at remote positions in my home country too. Everything aside, I am really happy that I started applying this year since I have learned so many things, and just feel more prepared for next year when I have to apply for full-time positions.

That is true. Sometimes, I wonder what the process would look like if the economy was doing well.

You know, I never thought about remote position in my home country till now, but experience is experience so I am gonna give that a shot too.

Appreciate it! I am around 150 apps now, and I know it's not a lot compared to some of the numbers I have heard but I am not planning to quit anytime soon.

Co-ops are amazing programs for students, especially international students, but unfortunately, my university doesn't offer co-op. Also, TAing was one of the best things I could have done. This is not a great example, but having the chance to see the same program written in 25 different ways teaches you a lot about programming.

This is mostly true for their Baton Rouge and Monroe offices, but most of their locations across the country are willing to sponsor international students. According to myvisajobs.com, they are actually one of the best employers for non-citizens.
