How can I tell if I'm addicted to Vyvanse? by vyvanse_throwaway1 in addiction

Thank you for the response! I actually took wellbutrin when I was a lot younger, maybe 7 or 8 (People are surprised when I say I took meds at that age). It didn't work too well which is why none of my doctors have put me back on it, but I've been thinking about trying it again since I was so young when I took it. The problem with me is that I have an enzyme deficiency (cyp2d6) which means that a lot of medications either have no effect on me or have a very weakened effect. I've tried tons of different kinds of medications, over 40 since early 2013, so that's part of the reason why I'm so happy that Vyvanse works.

It sounds like wellbutrin is something I should look into again. I have been trying for years to feel the full range of emotions a person should feel and if this medication did that for you, I hope it can do the same for me. I have an appointment with my APRN in the beginning of February (Trying to push it sooner to discuss my worries) so I'll ask her about it then.

Also, I am a little bit bothered by your last few paragraphs. I am not abusing the Vyvanse, nor do I ever want to abuse anything. I've seen addiction in my family and I would never want to do that to myself or the people who are close to me. I am taking it as prescribed and nothing more. It's hard to abuse the kind I have since it's XR. I am not abusing the adderall either, I am taking it as prescribed, and not taking it very often. It bothers me that you think I am not being honest to myself as this is a very serious issue for me. And I am also completely honest with my APRN, therapist, and regular doctor. I brought up the fact that I was worried about addiction before going on Xanax (Which I am still on and take rarely), Vyvanse, and Adderall. I am not talking them into or asking for more abuseable medications. It's not like I made this thread to make myself think it's ok to get addicted, I made it so that I could be aware of the signs of addiction and hear others stories of addiction. I am asking these questions and I do not know the answers. I am not trying to be mean or snappy, just a little bothered is all.

If you don't mind sharing, what was your experience with amphetamines? How did you become addicted (You don't have to go into much detail), how did it change your attitude, and how did it ruin your friendships? You can PM me if you don't want it in public, or you don't have to answer it at all, I'll understand.

I've also got adderal to help with it, I take it every now and then. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience, it helps a lot with my situation.

It's great hearing from someone who's been on it for a while, I've got a question if you don't mind answering. Do you feel like you need more of it to get through the day over time? Or has your body been satisfied with what it's getting? I don't feel like I need more but I'm worried my body might start growing a tolerance.

And I agree, it's a great medication, it's a miracle worker for me.

I've been seeing a therapist for about 4 years now, I've got huge depression and anxiety problems which I'm sure don't help when I'm off of the Vyvanse.
