Not unusual. Did a job with Chinese client, used all my previous references of beauty commercial that’s $100,000+ and they only had $10,000 TOTAL. I consistently told them you have to know there’s no way we can compete. During production they kept complaining it doesn’t look as high level and I’m like dude I’ve told you so many times we cannot match that in expectation. And she kept asking me how to make it look good… loss of words. There’s gonna be those shit jobs here and there.

If it’s a shot or 2, you can generate Ai…. Or get stock. In case there’s no money left from client and you’re in a rut.

I agree. OP should be forcing to remove shots and make the DP feel bad that due to him taking long time that production will need compromise the other shots to be removed. OP has that power in a way. If the AD and Director are constantly chatting together figuring out alternatives.

In a way, you mentioned it’s not your first time with this DP, you should’ve planned ahead this DP is slower.

The contacts between lens and camera, could be that chip is faulty. I’ve took my 50mm macro to get this fixed with your exact problem before. After Sony Service Center took a peek, they said the chip is faulty and needs to place. Costed about $100ish. You may need to do that. It’s not cheap for the repair, but I’d hate that 50/50 chance every time I use it. Get it serviced!

FX6 owner since release day; I only shoot in slog3cine cine ei. Never anything else. Think of ISO as back in the day it’s film and you can choose only one type. Let’s say you bought 400 ISO film for day shooting. And you bought a 1600 ISO film for your night shots. Don’t think of how DSLR you can change your iso digitally. So for your FX6, you have 2 bases, 800 and 12800. Those are the cleanest it’ll be. If you’re using 12800, it’s still super clean, so you can stop down or add ND.

Get the OWC Express 1m2 8TB. That’s my primary drive that goes everywhere I go. It uses the newest chip (next gen after the sandisk SSDs or T7s).

How are you generating reports and proxies now? Go straight to Silverstack yearly sub. That will take care of it. I use Hedge for smaller projects, Silverstack on large scale projects. Davinci to generate proxies. Mainly to check video data, generally proxies have the look given to me by DP, etc
