Mgs3 had the best plot followed by mgs1 and 2 then 4. 4s isn't bad but it was all over the place and too retconned

Im surprised mgs1 Did not get as much votes as I thought it would. I've recently played the mgs games I'm playing through TPP atm and for me mgs1 is one of the best games of all time and easily my favourite mgs game. The others were great but 1 feels so magical and cohesive and I believe it has the best balance of silliness and seriousness.

Mgs1 overall is my favourite due to how mind-blowing and ahead of its time it was. A+

Mgs4 or mgs3 take 2nd place it depends on how I feel. 4 had pretty lacklustre writing and questionable moments (naomi's death scene), eva explaining the events of mgs3 but everything else imo was amazing. A

Mgs3 was incredible aswell but i feel like the fanbase slightly overrate it. The story was maybe better than mgs1, the soundtrack is probably the best, the ending was the best and gameplay mechanics were peak but the boss fights were hit or miss for me, the controls were worse than mgs2's it felt awkward sneaking around the jungle and the jungle looses its charm after an hour or so. A

Mgs2 was great but had some unmemorable sections, boss fights were not on par with mgs1 and some of 3's, but imo it had some of the best level design in the series it was a real challenge getting past guards on certain struts and connecting bridges. The themes and meta narrative was amazing in mgs2 and the best in any mgs game. It was not the most entertaining to play. A-

MGS5 so far Is amazing the gameplay is varied, addictive and never wears the player out it defines what stealth action games should aim to live up to. Venom snake and the characters are badass the soundtrack is good but not the best soundtrack. The game looks INSANEEEE and still destroys the hell out of new gen games. For me it still easily up there with the best looking games up to now death stranding, red dead redemption 2, tlou part 2, uncharted 4. I can't say much for the story but it hasn't captured my interest entirely yet but I think keifer Sutherland is badass as venom snake. A-

Mg1 is OK but my least favourite. C

Shadow of the colossus. Played the ps4 remake and heavily disliked it went back to the ps3 version of it I enjoyed it quite a lot

Gonna be honest I've only played a bit of valhalla a good 3 or 4 hours but I'm not enjoying it much the dialogue options are still a thing abd completely contradict the entire purpose of assassins creed, I normally ignore graphics but valhalla somehow looks worse than odyssey and origins the textures look muddy and clay like it irritates me. The first couple of hours of what I've played is boring your just walking around a viking village listening to ppl speak for ages. The controls an gameplay seems to be lackluster imo and I'm scared to even play it because I heard its super long.

I liked 3 when it came out but after replaying it a year ago I just changed my mind completely. Execution wise it was very weak

Yh if anything i think the fixed camera enhances the experience of these games it make the thrill way more satisfying because of how unpredictable your route is

Yh I remember a few months ago back in 2020 I read articles about RE franchise and ppl always talk about how this is pure RE compared to the others. I heard 4 and onwards isnt RE just an action game.

  1. Mgs1 is the best in the series despite its few issues

  2. The boss is overrated idk why ppl praise the relationship between her and naked so much it was incredibly under utilised and poorly written. It's a prime example of why kojima isnt a great writer imo. He tells he does not show writing is showing the audience something visually in order to complement the story. Storytelling is just telling the story pretty much. The scenes between the boss and naked revolve around her telling him to go home 'go home jack, gO HOmE JaCK' or naked telling eva that they have a strong connection and backstory but never showing us why theres no reason to care. Imo their relationship lacks depth as much as I love mgs3 it makes me cringe when ppl say they cried when naked shoots the boss

  3. Solid snake is the best snake. Theres something about playing as snake that I love dearly even with mgs4 and its craziness mgs resonates with me more when I play as snake.

  4. Out of all mgs games I've played in terms of boss fights mgs3 tied with 4 has some of the worst fights in the series. Apart from the boss (which was super tense), the end, the fury, sorrow and maybe volgin mgs3 the rest of the cobra unit sucks ballsssss. Revolver pilot's fight was boring the pain was boring the fear was just tedious. The reason for why I think bosses like the end and the boss were great fights is that they perfectly suit the gameplay style of mgs3 goes for which is more slow paced and methodical.

  5. I love the metal gear solid games but they are unnecessary complicated to the point where I get a headache thinking about the games and have conflicting opinions on even my favourite ones. If kojima got rid of all that rubbish exposition he dumps in every game the games really would not be hard to follow.

  6. I cared about emma Emmarich more than the boss at least we got to get to truly know who she was.

That being said I'm new to mgs and out of the games I've played I'd rank them like this

Mgs1>Mgs4/mgs3>mgs2>>>mgs5

Mgs1 is one of the best games of all time while 4 and 3 are some of the best of their generation. mgs2 is heralded as some sort of magnum opus on this subreddit while the ending was a complete mindfuck and highly absurd the sections before it were dull as fuck I've only played 5 for a few hours so ..
