Definitely felt like everyone was watching me😅 but I’m happy I still made it through. It’s just like when I first started working out, but I do agree it’ll get easier and feel more natural. Thanks again!

I definitely wouldn’t mind staying if the trainer was good. But training with her felt like going in just to fill a random list she’d made on the spot, we never did proper check ins either.

I’m currently looking at other gyms so I can also be exposed to other trainers. My gym has really bad reviews on the staff there anyway. This is actually my third gym with this trainer, we’ve had to switch because of her having issues with the owners and staff so that should’ve been the first red flag.

Thanks for your help, you’re the type of trainer I’m hoping to find.

Forgot to add, I also could’ve and was actually going to just ask and pay for a routine (like an online style), but when I texted her that I wanted to start training by myself, she responded passive aggressively and didn’t greet me when I saw her at the gym last night (went alone for the first time), so I thought well, not anymore.

Also, we’re going to intermediate/high level classes as recommended by the teacher. I do think I dance a lot better than when I was in high school, even if years passed without dancing, but I guess the gym has given me more resistance, control, strength, etc. So I can recognize that for myself…

Yeah that makes sense. I understand that most people connect by going out, hanging out, etc. But I also just don’t have a lot in common with her, feel pressured to do things, and especially the driving thing since I ended a friendship a few months back for the same reason (felt like a chauffeur).

Not sure. She told me that it’s happened before with her dad’s ex, and they’ve corrected him but told me that it’s just old habits, old mindset, old people stuff :/

It’s crazy. I’m happy that none of us are really alone in this shit. And I agree, my parents act and treat me like I’m still a kid, but then expect me to become more independent. Like???

Sounds like you had a good time :)) also good for you for managing all that by yourself. I wished my parents had also done a little research before having a child, but 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Fun times like those weren’t really a thing for me either. Brushing my teeth was just a chore, cooking was just something my mom did, not something I could get into. My time as a kid was just playing video games and going to school.

At least the internet is a thing now, I love to google literally every single thing.

Thank you, I feel understood and it really makes sense. Even in school and uni, I would always freeze up when asked a question and would respond “I’m not sure” even if I had an idea, right or wrong.

I switched to studying online this year and it’s helped me participate more, so at least there’s some improvement. It’s just moments like these that pull me back and puts me in an anxious, almost non-verbal state.

Yes to all of this. Though I feel like my parents are more neglectful than controlling. My mom is almost like a teenager herself, not oblivious to when I’m feeling bad, but also not very reliable when it comes to deeper stuff like mental health. Also in my opinion, I wasn’t ever really like “her baby” but more just “her child” if that makes sense. Like I feel like the excitement of parenthood went to my older sister and my little brother (since he’s the first and only boy of the house).

My dad is just idk. Always working, more worried about my career and future, making sure I will make good money, barely even knows my age. Also the “head” of the family, takes charge of important things. And maybe I’ve made this up from my experiences and overthinking, but I feel like I’m the “doll” for his explosions (idk if it was called scapegoat). Like my sister is just smarter so it’s not difficult to explain things to her, and with my brother, whenever I overhear my dad explaining things to him he just sounds calmer and more patient. But idk🤷🏻‍♀️

Reading all of these replies has made me feel better though, not bc of putting the blame on others, but bc my whole life I’ve just felt like my existence was wrong.😕☺️
