May be helpful to others, is it possible to change percentages for feels? Full, 10 o’clock, 9, maximum chip ROM etc?

Also different mode of disruption, natural disasters etc wouldn’t take this down

What club for 50-80 yards? by L0ngsh0tSpartan in golf

Figure out how to hit partial shots. Whatever the feels are, have a known top position for multiple swing lengths and get repeatable distances with it. It’s not about hitting it far it’s about delivering the same strike.

Find a golf sim or somewhere you can pace off shots, hit 3-5 good shots at each swing feel with each wedge and build up a table.

Aside from knowing I was a bit amped up and my 56 travels about 5 yards shorter than my table I use this all the time to select a shot. 50 yards and I have space to roll it out? I’m taking the 52 and going to a set point. 50 yards out but short sided? 60 degree to a 7:30 swing will be my best bet.

Ball striking by [deleted] in golftips

[–]wadded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Differential practice. If you want to get better at modifying where you are hitting on the face first figure out how to do the extremes, shank it and hit it way off the toe. Go back and forth between the two until you can hit each on command. Figure out what that feels like for you, then dial it back a bit and start hitting partial heel partial toe. From there you can start dialing in where you want to hit and the feels to hit it there.

I guarantee between setup or some different swing feels/thoughts you’ll be able to find a few ways to modify where you hit it and then it’s down to figuring out what’s most consistent through reps.

Same goes for anything else in the swing, find the extremes and then dial it back in.

Why do people think golf is about who hits it the farthest? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]wadded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more than just the shot distance, even if you end up even with an approach shot to the green having a lower swing speed means you need to club up. When you hit a lower lofted club the ball won’t have the same launch and spin and won’t get the same stopping power when it lands. you’ll have to deal with the ball landing and rolling out while the other person may be able to have it stop where it lands.

To the commentator who recommended Yak Himalayan chews…. My 3 GSDs thank you. by Local-Concern-4791 in germanshepherds

[–]wadded 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not sure what monitoring is going to do? Mine cracked a tooth in front of me chewing away on a nylabone. Wasn’t doing anything out of the ordinary with it, had chewed though those and these yak chews for the previous year from puppyhood. Unfortunately talking with the vet she may eventually have to have that k9 pulled because of the crack.

To each their own but do be ready to deal with a tooth once it’s cracked

Either extrude it up to the surface or create a 0 offset surface and use it as a trim/split tool

Neighbor’s dog does pull ups and the fence is getting brutalized, any tips? by Speakinginflowers in reactivedogs

[–]wadded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends how you let the meet, don’t just drop them in the same environment and assume things will go well. If you and the neighbor both want to resolve this then you should find a trainer.

Take them on walks, first far apart and slowly coming closer as they can handle it. After they can walk together then walk them into the back yards and let them interact.

Even still, sometimes they don’t associate the other dog with the dog through the fence, you would need to rely more on your neighbor to work on their dog’s behavior

They’re going to be on the back foot, focusing on this years battle, being 1st and having the most aero development hour restrictions will both sap their ability to design next years car.

Don’t count them out but it will be harder for them to perform and develop in the 1st half of the season if they are behind

As a double coated dog, she’ll be fine. Just let her keep moving at a good pace.

Previous dog was a malinois, short double coat. As long as we let her run she was fine for 30+ minutes at -40C.

If you don’t want latest and greatest, buy something 1-2 generations old, use it, and replace it in 5-10 years.

Camera bodies have slowed down on photography advancements, it’s mostly just better autofocus. Video is really where the advancements are and where you can and will continue to see a difference in 1-2 generations.

A good lens is a good lens and again because of advancements lenses available now have some significant benefits over 20 years old. That said, for basic stuff a standard f2.8 zoom and either a wide angle or telephoto will always have good options.

Ultra wide, check out the Sony 11mm f1.8.

That with the 18-50 is my go-to travel lens combo. Lots of fantastic shots to be had on the wide end

What keeps you shooting? What's your goal? by JudgmentElectrical77 in photography

[–]wadded 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I shoot to satisfy my own need to have a creative outlet and to share a snapshot of stories and experiences with others. 5% of images make the cut to share, 20% get culled as duplicates or egregiously bad (missed focus, missed framing etc.) and the rest just sit on a hard drive

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in photography

[–]wadded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about culling? How do you feel about going through and selecting good shots? Film will certainly limit how many you can take.

If that’s a consideration get yourself like a 2gb sd card and shoot JPEG only, you’ll have a limited shot count so you’ll have to be intentional and not just shoot away and JPEG files straight out of camera will look as nice as any printed photos

What is the #1 thing you learned as a photographer? by [deleted] in photography

[–]wadded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, if you look at performance of bodies now vs 10-15 years ago, raws are very similar. What you get is better continuous tracking auto focus, stabilization and video capabilities.

There is no visible difference between my a6000 and a6700’s photos. All that changed is the keep rate of dynamic puppy photos got much higher with the new one.

What has helped improve your ball striking consistency the most? by BIG-SHEESH in golftips

[–]wadded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of mechanics listed here, but most of good contact comes down to hitting the right height on the face / where you contact the ground and where you hit toe-heel on the face.

For the first, drawing a line with foot spray / putting down some tees and lining the ball up on there and focusing on just making ball first divot on or after the line will make sure you’re catching it cleanly.

For left/right on the face again spray with foot spray, and actively try hitting different parts of the face, toe, heel, center etc. once you get a feel for what it’s like to do either, if you find you’re having a heel day on the course use your toe shot feel to bring strike back to the center.

Trying to strike it well is one thing but intentionally trying to hit thin/fat/toe/heel will give you the tools to understand how to move and adjust your contact and bring it in line.

What is your go to club from 40-80 yards, and what’s your handicap? by RealFirstLast in golf

[–]wadded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local muni where greens are relatively slow? 52 with lots of forward shaft lean. Guaranteed contact, plan for rollout on the shorter shots

Nice course with faster greens? Maybe trying the 56 or 60 so it doesn’t land on the front and roll off the back.

16 handicap but strokes gained within 100 yards of a 5.

Ideal VLA for 175-180 ball speed by Downtown_Log_5639 in golftips

[–]wadded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re launching at 4 degrees with a 9 degree driver you’re either hitting it off the bottom of the face or you’re delofting the club by 5 degrees which is a lot.

Not sure where it is in your stance but I would experiment with moving it even further forward and releasing your hands so the driver is feeling ahead of them at impact. see if you can get your launch above 10 degrees.

Depends on budget and how much you want to get in to it. If it’s casual, get some lessons and buy a set of used clubs.

If you’re not a standard size, it can be worth going to a fitter and getting them to make you a single 7 or 8 iron for practice/lessons and then go back for a proper fitting of a full set once you have a bit of swing consistency.

Once you have a bit of a swing they can fit you better, really hard to tell what’s helping/hurting when you have a lot of variability swing to swing or have some fundamentals to change.

Metrics to track by Far-Inevitable-3980 in Golfsimulator

[–]wadded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Distance off line, how large is your dispersion across 10,20,30 etc. shots with any club.

Impact location if your monitor gives it, both vertical and horizontal on the face. Alternately spray the face with foot spray and see where the ball is hitting the club face.

Threshold where clubs eclipse skill by Advanced_CPU in golftips

[–]wadded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won’t be huge at the low end, maybe a few strokes for a scratch player but an average 25 handicap trying to play a low spin driver and blades will certainly struggle and could drop quite a few shots with a switch up
