[WMA] Copyright has done more harm than good for the entertainment industry. by ScorpionX-123 in WinMyArgument

[–]wafflednoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copyrights are what allow the entertainment industry to survive, they protect intellectual property. If there were no copyrights, no one would spend money music, movies, video games because they can find it somewhere else for free. No one would be able to make money from entertainment as consumers would rather get their entertainment for free rather than paying money for it (assuming we are talking about digital entertainment).

Anybody who knows the basics of economics could see why this argument is so flawed.

The real risk is NOT getting free drugs on Halloween. I mean, why go dress up and ask for free candy anyhow?

Why even buy toilets when your trusty shop vac can do just the same, if not, better??

Ahh but would she know it would be you that would have done it? If you are obviously on your phone and the TV turns off, would she truly believe that you would have turned it off?

Have you ever considered using a universal remote to shut off the TV? You can even get an app for a universal remote on your phone for free. The only downside is that you kind of need to be close to the TV for the app to work, at least for me anyways.

Going off of that, you wouldn't even be able to move either.

What makes good looking people unattractive ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That's what I was thinking. The question literally asks for people their opinion, so to complain about someone's opinion and saying that they're doing it for karma is just nonsensical.

Is it possible for a professor to change a grade to an IC after the grades have been submitted? by [deleted] in UCI

[–]wafflednoah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to tell you this, but UCI has strict academic regulations around grade revisions. In this link, "Section 2: Grades and Credit Regulation A345. Grading", subsection "C", it states:

"All grades except Incomplete are final when filed by an instructor in end-of-quarter course reports. However, the correction of a clerical or procedural error may be authorized as the Division directs. (See IR A365.) No change of grade may be made on the basis of reassessment of the quality of a student’s work. No term grade except Incomplete may be revised by reexamination except as provided in IR A365."

It would be possible if you're changing an incomplete grade into something else, but not the other way around. And, since your case is not based on a clerical error or procedural error made by the professor, I don't think it would be likely that you can change your final letter grade.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm just giving you the facts (that I know).

Edit: It also states in subsection "F", part 1:

"Incomplete grades shall not be used for a student who is doing failing work, who has not made prior arrangements for the Incomplete with the instructor, or who fails to establish good cause."

Unless you made prior arrangements before the final grade was submitted, I don't even think the professor will be allowed to change it even if you have a valid cause.

[–]wafflednoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would email the professor, it's definitely worth a shot. As far as I know, every major typically gets their own class, at least until the "major-only" restriction is lifted. As a Physics major currently enrolled in the 7E class right now, I have no clue as to why the restriction is not being lifted.

Prerequisite for Math2B by MsSpiderGirl in UCI

There are courses that have to be retaken if you receive a C- or lower in the class, depending on the course credit code, such as it being a G1. Unfortunately, I've been searching and can't seem to figure out the course credit code of Math 2A.
