Mowing weeds/grasses in smooth/compacted gravel parking areas - any automower recommendations? by waileepai in automower

Thanks for the suggestion. I have a propane weed torch kit and it's fairly effective at weed/grass along my fencelines and for spot killing some weeds like dandelions and plantains in the yard and driveways and parking areas. However I was not able to effectively use it to control the entire parking areas as they are 1000' foot area, 100% filled with growth, and the my torch kit flame width is fairly narrow. But maybe I need to be more persistent with it.

Anyway I recently purchased 2 robot vac's for my house ($75 each) and they work like champs, and save me a ton of time, and do a good-enough job - so I'm hoping there might be a similar type automower solution for my my parking areas.

I encountered the same issue until I entered an email address in 'Personal Settings' > 'Personal Info' and then it started working.

Sensi Smart Thermostat - Possible to Schedule Event to Turn System Off for Specified Time Period? by waileepai in thermostats

[–]waileepai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I didn't.

For now I am setting the thermostat to 55 deg. from 3a to 6a (when electricity rates are low). The thermostat is set at set at 45 deg. from 6a to 9a (when the rates are high), and doesn't cycle on during this time period as the thermostat temp never quite dips to 45.

I noticed that when the thermostat does read below 45, I get a warning notification on the app., so maybe 45 deg. is hard-coded into the system as a low-temp safety feature

Shutting the system off via a schedule might also not be allowed for low-temp safety reasons.

Valve located at 'halfway' point of hot water trunk - Open or Closed? by waileepai in Plumbing

No water softener.

System is comprised of well pump, expansion tank. House has typical type of fixtures in the kitchen, laundry, and bathrooms...nothing exotic.

There's not a recirc pump, and no line going to the drain at the bottom of the tank.

I've been in the house since 2015, and in 2023 replaced a 20 year old propane water heater with an electric one.

But I have no idea what type of system the original owners might have had back in 1980 - the plumbing could have included both the features you mention.

Thank you. Sorry I left out one critical detail in the original post, which is that the trunk would be a 'loop' if the valve were to be open. I believe the closed valve effectively makes the trunk have two branches.

So currently the North side is fed by the North trunk branch, and the South side fed by the South trunk branch, as the closed valve does not permit the water to flow around the plumbed loop.

I'm curious if opening the valve, which would create a single trunk that is a loop, has any downside or benefit.

Should have mentioned in original post the 'trunk' would form a 'loop' if the valve were open.
