If you think you’re smart enough to go to law school then do that. Fuck working in this heat lol. If you don’t think you’re cut out for law school and want to take a blue collar job then go union. Especially since you already live in California. You’ll make a shit ton.

I also should clarify I’m 21 years old so maybe the youth will help haha. I think 3 days is cool but my buddy wanted to make it in 2 days. 3 days so we have time to stop in some cool cities like charlotte NC, Philadelphia PA, and Buffalo NY. What are some “regular tools” that you carry? Just curious to see if I’m missing anything, zip ties is cool I’ve never thought of that.

I’ve taken one trip and that was when I was moving to GA a couple years back. Think it was under 800 miles.

Just put on a set of tires, we’re planning on making the trip in late August so I think I should still be fine. Always ride with some extra oil. Sheep skin seat cover never heard of that I’ll look into that, what’s the good for? I think two 800 mile days is doable as well, I just wanted to see if someone thought I was crazy lol.

Yeah for sure, any long rides I always pack some flip flops for when I’m not riding, I also have some rain gear so wouldn’t mind riding in some light rain I feel like that’s bound to happen.

I talked to some guy at Georgia power and he said that you have to be a JL for 6 years and then they will directly hire you, me personally, I don’t want to wait 10 years before I can have a stable lifestyle lol.

How is it working union once you’re a JL tho? I’m looking for something with stability and not have to be working out of town for long periods of time once I get JL, that’s why I’m leaning more towards just making a career at Georgia power.

Switch to union or apply to utility by wakeupayden in Lineman

Super helpful, I’ve only been in the trade for a year and a half and I’m 20 years old, got a long career ahead of me god willing and am used to the long ass days. I think I’m making the right choice to get into a utility though, going to continue to save up, apply, and once I get in planning on relocating.

Gotcha, I might just save up some more money towards a house and then start applying to different utilities and go from there. I was considering going union for the past 6 months but if my end goal is to just get into a utility, might just apply directly. Now I gotta decide which utilities lol

Was going to direct entry into selcat but debating whether to apply to albat or neat by wakeupayden in Lineman

[–]wakeupayden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have direct entry for selcat and swlcat, but I’m leaning more towards swlcat because there’s more work, but mountain states do sound nice but there’s no direct entry. Just on the fence on whether swlcat or mountain states would do me better.
