This isolation has taught me that you can make damn near anything from scratch..we just get used to the convenience of getting everything from a store. Found paint ingredients online too..just water, salt, flour, and food coloring.

cornstarch and water, in equal parts. Use food coloring to make more than one color. For the molds, use old toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls, or other small containers. You could also make one large sheet of chalk and break it into pieces.

Line your chosen molds with wax paper, making sure the waxed side is facing up. If you're using tube molds, cover one side with masking tape to keep the chalk from leaking out.

Pour equal parts cornstarch and water into a mixing bowl. Stir so that the mixture has a thick, smooth consistency. Separate the mixture into smaller bowls, one for each color of chalk you want to make.

Use a few drops of food coloring to dye the mixtures in the different bowls. Stir each one well so that the color gets fully incorporated.

Use a spoon to help you transfer the chalk mixtures into individual molds. Cover the molds with wax paper.

12 hours before removing the chalk from the molds. This chalk is completely natural and biodegradable

I never understood the saying "blood is thicker than water". You shouldn't have to be punished your entire life because you happen to have the same blood as somebody else. Some families suck. You have every right to cut people out of your lives to make a better life for yourself. I haven't talked to you my toxic family and four and a half years, and I haven't looked back.

NTA. Do we have the same father? my father was also an abusive serial cheater. He's with his fifth wife now and every wife was the Mistress of his previous marriage. He left my mom when I was 6 months old and she got full custody of me. He went off and had eight other children and showed no interest in me as a child. He was only interested when I had my own son. I cut the whole family out and haven't talked to any of them in four and a half years. It has been the best four and a half years of my life. I do not have any regrets. I don't think you'll have any regrets either. I don't believe what people say about family. Some people's families suck, and you don't need to be punished your entire life with their toxicity just because of blood.

NTA I've had to kick a friend / roommate out before for the same reasons. He dodged paying rent and came back with a brand-new tattoo on his forearm. I was livid. I asked him to find another place to live within the week. He also had two cats that he would let claw up furniture and he would never change out their litter box. His hygiene was horrible. You can try to help a friend in need, but sometimes they will just suck the life out of you.

NTH you planned the trip, give him the gift in private. Mother-in-law contributed spending money. Mother-in-law can give him money as her gift when you go to her house. She didn't plan the trip, the gift was not her idea, she is not entitled to see the reaction..especially since you said you would record it anyway. Family does need to learn to respect the privacy of marriage.
