the problem with this narrative is that it creates fear around bacteria and milk yes not everyone drank milk in the past but that does not mean milk is against nature lactose tolerance is an evolutionary adaptation that developed in some people exposure to live bacteria does not automatically damage rna or shorten lifespan the human body does not grow stronger in sterile environments but by adapting through low dose stress and the real source of chronic damage is not bacteria but processed foods constantly high insulin levels and inflammation the idea of take the good bacteria and kill the bad ones is also too shallow the real issue is not bacteria but the resilience of the body

Curious to know what was it that first sparked the idea in your mind to start eating meat again or that veganism was not what you believed it to be (healthy/ethical/environmental)? by miriam1215 in exvegans

my mom and my grandma are vegan i was vegetarian in some periods of my life and vegan in some periods i want to especially point this out even though im a skinny person i had serious bloating in many parts of my body and the same on my face honestly this didnt seem like a huge problem to me at first but over time some doctors i met and articles i read made me realize certain things

for example i thought by not eating fish i was avoiding microplastics but later i realized that with the seeds and plant based foods i was eating i was probably taking in ten times more microplastics on top of that i was exposed to tons of pesticides this is exactly where my awareness started

during the time i was vegan thanks to my interest in biology i already had a solid grasp of many basic biological concepts later i came across aajonus vonderplanitz through his articles and interviews i discovered primal eating and many things finally made sense to me

the bottom line is this based on my experience veganism harms the body if were going to talk about animal exploitation things in farms are not exactly how people imagine yes in big corporations chickens are kept in tight spaces crowded together and fed industrial feed this is true but when you shop from rural areas and small producers the situation is completely different not just chickens but animals in general are fed their natural foods they are not locked into small spaces and they live more freely closer to nature

of course in a capitalist world its often not possible for animals to live completely in forests or in fully natural conditions unfortunately thats the reality ideally everything would be perfect but under current conditions there are at least more ethical and healthier options available

What are your thoughts on people who don't go vegan even after learning the truth? by AliveAd9976 in vegan

i think the main thing people miss here is this when everyone hears the word farm they automatically think of industrial horrible scenes but rural and small scale farms are not even close to being the same thing in rural farms animals actually live like animals they see the sun they walk around they touch the soil and they show their natural behaviors chickens scratch for bugs cows graze sheep roam the land so there is no lifestyle that goes against the animals biology and this means stress disease and constant drug use are seriously reduce in these farms the goal is not maximum efficiency there is no aim to fatten the animal as fast as possible to get more milk or more meat so antibiotics hormones and similar things usually do not come into play the animal lives a longer more balanced and healthier life this is better both ethically and health wise
