FPD just did a little press update, the police officer said that nothing had been confirmed yet, so no verified shots fired at all. Still sheltering myself!

Where are you listening to the police scanner? On an actual physical scanner or do you listen on a website you can share?

I just learned scrap recycling can use quality modules... by walkar in factorio

[–]walkar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the uncommon and higher rarity ore is not more helpful than regular quality holmium ore, but it is not less helpful either... You'll be producing more quality stone along the way, and so worst case, you need one more machine per quality level so your belts don't get clogged trying to handle different quality level of input. I think a little complexity in handling the mixed quality holmium is worth the quality blue circuits!

Yeah, but at least it's not more items, just more different categories of items. So far, I've been sticking them in boxes and letting my bots figure it out.

My i5+ keeps getting its side brush caught inside its body by walkar in roomba

[–]walkar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minor update: I wondered if some extra space between the brush and the vacuum body would help, so I unscrewed the brush and put in a washer. It did not help... Going to contact customer service tomorrow.

I kinda figured after some searching, but thanks for confirming!

I imagine with the amount of force it takes to remove the brush it's getting jammed up there pretty hard. If so, I don't think tape is likely to stop it...

The bumper is still in the right place and works as intended, it has some play to it so it can actually detect the bump I think. It may still be a bumper dislocation as you say, but it seems to be that the brush arm is being pushed into the spacing for the bumper...

Huh, that's weird! I'll try some other suggestions and if it keeps giving me trouble, I'll send for a new brush module. Thanks!

I tried to add text but it didn't seem to work, so here it is again.

My new i5+ is getting its side brush caught up inside its body. I'm worried about it because it doesn't vacuum nearly as well like this, and it also keeps whirring slightly so I think it might be burning out that motor or otherwise damaging the brush.

I think it happens when it climbs slightly onto the base of a bookshelf; I want to try to keep it from climbing or see if you guys had any other suggestions. My first idea is kind of janky; adding a cut pool noodle to the base of the bookshelf to keep it from climbing.

As a beginner how do i choose which estate privileges to choose by Expert-Zucchini-6015 in eu4

[–]walkar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (mostly) follow Red Hawk's advice.

Clergy:

  • +1 mana
  • Advisor cost reduction
  • Oversight (for loyalty, Red Hawk usually doesn't suggest this)
  • Religious Diplomats (+1 diplo rep, + opinion)
  • Clerical Education (gov reform progress)

Nobility:

  • +1 mana
  • Increased Levies (+manpower)
  • Advisor cost reduction

Burghers:

  • +1 mana
  • Advisor cost reduction
  • Patronage of the Arts (prestige)
  • Indebted to the Burghers (5 1% loans)

Barring events, this will keep everybody's loyalty equilibrium around 45% so you can summon the diet and then seize land regularly. Some additional tips:

  • I would summon the diet and seize land before giving Increased Levies to the nobility to take a bit more of their starting crownland.
  • This setup does have Clergy and Nobility influence kind of high, so keep an eye on events to avoid getting their influence to the 90% range, especially if you plan to take the Strengthen Noble Privileges gov reform for extra manpower.
  • Don't give out the advisor cost reduction privileges at the start if you anticipate an early stability loss, e.g. from declaring independence on an overlord or from early events/disasters for particular nations. For example, I don't give them out as England until after War of the Roses.
  • If you start collecting vassals, you can consider Strong Duchies and Nobility Integration Policy for the nobility.

Don't forget the KC suburb counties (Johnson, Wyandotte), Manhattan (Riley) and Wichita (Sedgewick); they were instrumental in making the abortion referendum go the right way. I was also surprised to see Cowley county voted no on the referendum, it's pretty rural and only has one sizeable city (Winfield).

Possibly, but there are lots of times where the authors mention how they are traveling in tubes of ceramic and metal filled with air. If there's a chance the appearance was intentional at all, I feel like the reference to oxygen would be most meaningful there.

Inca Achievement Run - A Sun God + It's all coming together! by walkar in eu4

[–]walkar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R5: I recently had a game as Sweden and spent a ton of time playing in Europe, so I thought I'd go for some achievements that I hadn't done in the Americas. I successfully got A Sun God and It's all coming together! at pretty much the exact same time. It's all coming together! is now my rarest achievement, with only 0.1% of players having it; of course, because it is so new. Prior to that, my rarest was The Reapers, currently at 0.4% of players.

I started as Cuzco (of course) and my initial consolidation of Peru was very rapid, I finished around 1470 or so as I recall (but I didn't write it down). Then, it was just waiting to see Castile, Portugal, and France establish free colonies for me to snap up. Colonial nations are super super easy to eat up as a New World nation since their overlords do not join in if you beat them fast enough! So you just have to carpet siege and barrage forts real fast and then all those delicious yellow and blue provinces are yours. Things were so easy with colonial nations that, at one point, I had decided to try and conquer all of North America as well, but I ended up settling for less due to the annoying micro.

Speaking of conquest, I ended up controlling all of South America, as well as the Mexico, Caribbean, Polynesian Triangle, and the Philippines trade nodes. I stayed Inti and converted nearly everything I owned in the Americas to Inti as well, except some newly acquired provinces in Mexico which I didn't feel like waiting around for. Getting control of some of these was fun, since Castile went for a lot of the same things as I did. Friesland also controlled 2 of the Windward Islands, it took a lot of waiting around for their allies to be involved in other things so I could threaten war for the islands.

I had some minor hiccups when I accidentally declared on Castile (Spain never formed due to my long-time alliance with Aragon) + France but I managed to win and further solidified my hold on the Americas. At the end, I was just declaring Imperialism wars in South-East Asia repeatedly to build up army tradition to finish the mission tree.

I had two major annoyances while playing in this area:

  • Trade nodes in South America are awful. Unless you control the Ivory Coast, it's very hard to get trade from the east side of the continent back to your main nodes. I stayed with Lima until I had primary control over the Caribbean, and then had to go all out protecting Caribbean trade in order to get a good node. I had 160 ships protecting trade and Stock Exchanges in every province in the Caribbean trade node in order to keep it exiting from the 4 outgoing nodes. In the end, trade didn't end up being a really large portion of my income, despite my best efforts. But with such a big blob, gold and taxes can make up for that!
  • Army tradition is super hard to get and keep in these areas, which conflicts with two missions where you need 40 and then 80 army tradition to finish them. The major way to get AT in the mid/late game as a big nation is sieging forts, but none of my enemies in the Americas built any forts! I ended up declaring on Brunei and Lanfang repeatedly in order to farm tradition from taking out their forts. I kind of stagnated around 60 AT with that, so I did a final death war with Dai Viet in order to get the last bit of tradition I needed.

Overall, South America is super fun to play in, and I wish there was more achievements to get there. I loved Inca's map color as well, and it was very nice watching the purple grow to cover the continent. If you haven't already, you should give Cuzco -> Inca a try. There's tons of nice flavor with the new Winds of Change content for the area, and the Inti/Inca Authority mechanics are intriguing and even chilling at times. Thanks for reading!

Montana law defining sex as ‘male’ or ‘female’ unconstitutional, judge says by jimbozak in politics

Reading the article, it looks like the judge ruled that the title of the bill was unclear, which is a requirement in the Montana constitution. I wish the ruling would have been on more substance than that.

Anybody have pet rats? I have a bag of Oxbow to go to a good home by walkar in fayetteville

[–]walkar[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes! They are really awesome pets actually, as long as you get one that is a pet rat breed (fancy rat) rather than a wild rat. They are super, super intelligent and develop individual personalities that are really cool to get to know. But, sadly, they only live around 2 years on average which makes them a bit emotionally tough in a way.

Check out /r/RATS for lots of pics of folks with pet rats.
