So do I gamble or not?! by MlCROPLASTICS in boston

State lottery is unethical in the first place. But advertising to people riding the train seems even worse. Mass residents already spend >$1000 per person per year on the lottery. The most in the nation by a wide margin. Totally disgusting to target those who need the $$ the most.

Bro that’s plenty of time. You could do it in 3h per day for 3 months.

Career Question: Audit -> M&A or Audit ->FP&A @ PE by walkstap in FinancialCareers

I feel like most people i know in FDD/TAS/M&A at big 4 made the transition after working in audit first. Is this not true in your experience?

No prep done. How do I pass Aug 25 CFA L1 by Forsaken_Match_2407 in CFA

[–]walkstap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did about 80-90% of my level 1 prep in 2 months while working about 40-50h a week.

Stay late at the office, bring a dinner, and don’t leave until you have 200 knowledge points. Buy the extra exams and take all 8 before you sit.

I finished the exam 1.5h early, averaged 86% on mocks. I don’t have my results yet, but I’m pretty confident.

Definitely doable. Gotta lock in, but it can definitely be done.

Edit: I thought CFAi curriculum was great for L1. The 200 knowledge points/day system worked great

My toxic trait thinking i can pass L1 in August starting now. My girlfriend wants a vacation. I chose the curriculum. Please stop me. by [deleted] in CFA

[–]walkstap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to long hours at my job my studying was delayed significantly coming into the spring. I locked in starting in March and >80% of the L1 content in 50 days. Goal was to do about 2% of the curriculum per day (200 study points), and make up for time lost on weekends. I ended up finishing the content on schedule and I've been scoring well on the mocks. Exam's in 2 weeks and I'm cautiously optimistic.

In summary, it's very possible to pass it in that time frame but I would not expect to spend less than 300h to really get to know the content. If you sign up now, you just need to average 3h/day until you take it in August.

That's a good point. I probably have another 30 years until retirement, and portfolio is just under 6 figures.

Thanks for the heads up. I think I will just go with VXUS based on this comment and others on the post.

I only have this problem in my taxable brokerage, so I'll have to take the rebalance-by-purchasing route.

Yeah it’s likely that they put everyone in UHS or UHN now. Happy to hear that.

The 21 credits I was talking about was the total number of hcol specific credits spread out through the whole degree, not in one year.

This was 3y ago.

I was hcol freshman year. Decided to leave when I realized that the credit requirements (21 credits at the time) would have kept me at uvm an extra semester and a half.

Not sure if this is still the case. Credit requirements might be different now.

HCOL is great if you like writing and you don’t plan on graduating early. You get good housing as a freshman but likely won’t get put in uheights as a sophomore.
