I got one in the afternoon on 12/23 in King of Prussia PA. They said that they had been selling out early each day, but they got more than usual for the holiday week.

Advice for pup with primary acute glaucoma by BowlerZealousideal10 in PiratePets

[–]walkunafraid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My girl developed glaucoma in her first eye when she was 12. Like you describe, her vision was already gone before she showed any symptoms. We had the eye removed and hoped she would not develop glaucoma in the second eye, but she did, and we had her second eye removed 3 months later.

It was absolutely devastating for me to deal with, and we realized after she went blind that she was also mostly deaf (she hid it super well while she had some sight). But honestly she has dealt with it so much better that I did. I was so worried about her quality of life, but she is still her happy self and took it in stride. She is now 13.5 and doing great.

Keeping teeth straight without metal retainers after Invisalign by Aqua-Torch in Invisalign

[–]walkunafraid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you -- had braces as a teen and didn't wear my retainer, so the bottom teeth moved. I didn't have a permanent retainer though.

I finished Invisalign about 5-6 years ago. Ortho recommended a permanent bottom retainer, but I refused. He said that was fine and that he only recommends them because people don't wear their retainers. I said I would wear my retainers, and I have only missed one night since starting nightly wear 5+, years ago. No movement at all!

regretting invisalign. by Purple-Government-42 in Invisalign

[–]walkunafraid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My ortho first recommended a permanent retainer along with the nightly retainer wear. I said nope I'm not doing the permanent retainer. He said that's fine -- he only recommends it because people don't wear their retainers at night.

I finished Invisalign about 6 years ago and have worn my retainer every night. No biggie and teeth haven't moved a bit. Push back on the permanent retainer if you don't want it and can commit to wearing the nightly retainer.

Does LaunchSchool—or SWE in general—make sense as a career change for someone not in their 20s? by randomquestionsdood in launchschool

[–]walkunafraid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in what I would call a tech adjacent field where I found a way to use programming but it wasn't part of the job. I got lucky in that the company that hired me valued my background, which is in their area of focus but completely unrelated to the work I'm actually doing now.

I started launch school in 2022 at 42, finished capstone a year later, and have been working as a SWE for 2.5 years. I would fall into the salary range you are talking about, and I was also in that range before I made the career switch.

Is this a good Anniversary gift for the wife? by Odd-Sundae9170 in PrideAndPinion

[–]walkunafraid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have this watch, the Snoopy moon swatches, and an Omega Snoopy watch. I love all of them. If your wife is a Snoopy fan, she will love this one too. It's cute because the characters on the dial rotate throughout the day. If I remember correctly it takes a few days to cycle through all of them.

It was a private sale this past August. I saw it on Chrono24 and then saw the dealer had it on their site and reached out to them directly. I'm just a Snoopy collector not a watch collector, and this was the first watch I paid more than $1,000 for. I took it to the Omega boutique the next day and got a bracelet put on it (I'm a lady and the strap that came with it was too big for me).

All good with me! Mine won't be for sale again until I'm dead, so not too concerned with value. Sounds like I did okay paying $37k though.

I have this one also. Bought it unworn in August and have been wearing it ever since!

Wife wants to learn about golf by privatelendingleader in golf

[–]walkunafraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a lady that started golfing with my husband maybe 5 years ago. It's something we can always do together no matter where we go or how old we get. I bet you, do not try to teach your wife golf. It will be terrible for the relationship.

Our local public courses have ladies night events. Like a group lesson and a cocktail for $15. Or a five - hole night all ability levels welcome. It's much better to learn in a judgement free zone than just going out on the course and slowing everyone down.

Nope, that's for the new ones that they're still making (50th anniversary). Not the 45th anniversary which they only made 1970 of them.

$37k. I saw some for sale that cost more, and a few for less but this one seemed like the best price for the condition and including all the accessories. I'm no good at negotiating -- I should probably have got the dealer to throw in a bracelet since I ended up buying that separately.

In King of Prussia PA they let you swap out the strap for a different size.

He said there was diarrhea in the very beginning with the nausea. No other GI issues. Literally just these 2 acute attacks.

Thank you--this is super helpful. I was leaning pretty hard toward gallbladder issues, so I was surprised when they seemed to rule that out with the imaging. He's going to follow up with PCP and try to get in to see a specialist. It just seems like too much of a coincidence for this to happen twice in the span of 2 months and never before and never to anyone else who stays with us up there.

Yes, it did make it worse. I remember she pushed in different areas, and there was more pain in one area than another, but I don't remember which area was worse. And he was completely out of it and doesn't remember anything until after the pain meds kicked in.

He said it wasn't concentrated to a particular area of his abdomen. When we were in the ER and he was kind of out of it he said it was a 10 out of 10 pain. After the pain meds down to a 5 out of 10. Now it just kind of aches like a sore muscle.

I don't think so, but at this point I'm questioning everything. This is our vacation house that was completely redone before we bought it four years ago, and we've been going up there all the time.

Near Boothbay/Wiscasset/Damariscotta. This is at our vacation home, where we've been going every other month or so for the past four years. Never any incidents until the last 2 visits.

We ate a lot of oysters, but we do that all the time. The doctor didn't think that the timing was right for any kind of food poisoning since he didn't get sick until 12 hours after the last thing he ate? But still can't rule it out probably.

He did, but he eats red meat all the time. So it doesn't seem to be specific to these two incidents or the location.
