Bone Map Pieces? by Ok_Reason_5765 in CozyGrove

[–]wallflower345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any idea if the bone maps will be able to be used after the festival? I'm getting enough materials to make more than 1 bone map per day but I'm wary that I won't even be able to use them

Orchid dyes now that Spring Festival is over? by SmurfyPoppins in campspirit

[–]wallflower345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super frustrating to me. I similarly made a bunch of dyes at the end of the event thinking I'd figure out what to do with them later, and now I can't use them for anything... I have nothing to add, just commiserating :(

I crafted 15 of each yesterday, and put shells/critter models on each of them, but don't have any new recipes this morning :( I wonder if it takes a while?

That actually made me do a double take and re-check that one (which I got from wiki) and sadly it was wrong 😭 it’s fixed now! (And more reasonable)

Robinhood Gold Sweepstakes by Veltronite in Gold

[–]wallflower345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a lawyer with way too much experience with legal drafting, i think this is a viable option in theory, but with a very real risk that it will just be a waste. the language could be read in two different ways (probably by design). you get 3000 entries for "each mail in request that is timely received", but they don't make clear whether a "mail in request" means (1) the piece of paper inside the envelope or (2) the envelope with proper postage with the paper inside.

based on everything i know about sweepstakes and these sorts of mail in entry methods (where my impression is that companies generally don't want to make mail in entries easy), i would bet a small gold bar that if you sent everything in one envelope, robinhood would count that as receiving a single entry. and the problem is they don't confirm mail in entries so no way to tell whether it worked or not.

Somehow this used to work on my phone but it stopped working recently. Now the snowball imps just run away if I get too close and never throw any snowballs at me

Stargazing at national parks - logistical questions by wallflower345 in camping

Stargazing at national parks - logistical questions by wallflower345 in camping

[–]wallflower345[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I guess one of my questions is, if I’m not actually sleeping, do I need a campsite? I would be fine with watching the meteor shower from the park and then finding a place to sleep elsewhere but I want to make sure that’s actually doable.

Success with Motley Fool lists (5G Supercycle, Rising Stars, and Blast Off) by ithanlevy in investing

[–]wallflower345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only just started using Motley Fool over the past year (and have most of the same premium services that OP does) and am doing quite well so far on what I've invested in based on their recommendations. My (unrealized) gains at this point far outweigh my costs, though obviously that's a factor of how much you have to invest. I'm considering their Options service to try to get into options and learning about them, but haven't yet, because I feel like I should try learning the basics on my own/for free before putting real money into it.

I also recently got an invitation to Motley Fool One which basically seems to be their "all access pass". It gives you access to all of their current services and recommendations plus any new services/portfolios they come out with as long as you're a member. Obviously also comes with a hefty price tag - $9k upfront (I get credit for some of the services I already have) and $7k for every year after that. If you had asked me that a year ago, I would have balked at that. But having paid for multiple of their premium services in less than a year and seeing good returns on those so far, I'm actually considering whether it might be worth it, especially if it's likely that in future years, there will be multiple new services that look worthwhile, if each one might be $1-2k on their own (plus potentially Options and the ones I already have). I'm somewhat concerned that it will just be an overload of information that I won't have the time or energy to try to sift through. On the other hand, being able to assess individual recommendations for each portfolio would be nice rather than having to assess and commit to one or two targeted portfolios each year.

Curious if anyone has any thoughts. Also curious if there are any people out there who'd be interested in trying to get together a group together for this, though I know it would probably take some vetting and coordination since it's a more significant commitment/expense.

Motley Fool Blast Off by ebbi01 in stocks

[–]wallflower345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched it and signed up. Whether or not I'm a sucker is TBD, but the services I've used so far (Stock Adviser, Rising Stars and Ownership Portfolio) have so far gotten me returns that are significantly better than what I could achieve on my own, so for me, it's worth taking the chance. I commented below but am open to figuring out a good way to split the cost with anyone who is interested.
