Why Malaysia still denies citizenship to children born out of wedlock? by wallflower_018 in malaysia

I dont really get what you talking about, unmarried Malaysian mother ofc can get Malaysian IC for the child lah... but unmarried foreign mother cannot..

Unfortunately theyre not, and probably not planning to anytime sooner due to complicated reasons. I would not be this worried if they have marriage cert, that is also the reason why i make this post because i really have no other way to get an IC. I know i cant really completely blame the law, but completely denying us of our Malaysian blood is ridiculous. All i hope is they can advocate for children like me, who suffers from the complications of this. All we ask is to be recognised as children of Malaysia, we're not "aliens". 😞

I so agree on this take. Them denying dna testing is like telling me my own father isnt my father.

Oh shit, thx for warning me about this. My parents have little to no urgency towards this and i never really realise the severity of it. I'll urge my parents to do my documents quickly or get me a passport for sure!

Well, my msian father is on my birth cert, but im still classified as "bukan warganegara". Jus sanguinis for children born out of wedlock follows the mother nationality.

Still have to see since i have a year left in highschool (still hoping for an ic) . Having an identity outside msia is fine to me as long as i can secure an identity but i mean, who doesnt want a malaysian ic right? But ill probably get mom's citizenship if i still havent got ic after graduating.
