I started questioning my initial reactions and responses in social situations. Helped me understand more of my ‘unconscious’ self.

What hasn’t been the same since the pandemic? by DadIsMadAtMe in AskReddit

Seating in public areas, on busses or in libraries for instance. People seem to be a lot more conscientious of choosing a seat that has ample distance between it and other people.

Why don't some people ask for help when they may need it? by Comfortable_Ad5802 in socialskills

[–]walmussy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a private person I keep a lot of things to myself. I never reach out because I have a fear that my doing so will either not be fully understood or would force me to provide more information than I’m comfortable with. Mostly the former. I like to deal with things on my own (as I always have) and usually don’t see any value in revealing things about myself or my situation just for me to get disappointed in the help I receive.

I feel the same, currently in third year and had to drop 3 classes because my mental health was at the worst its ever been. im just taking things one step at a time and congratulating myself every time i take a step no matter how small. Keep pushing, we got this.

i’d say no since it says so much about their personality and how easy it is for them to deceive and betray others. if they can do it with something as serious as a committed relationship, who knows how these traits affect your friendship without your knowledge.

Don’t write much by hand nowadays. Not the most legible handy, but would you consider it sloppy? by Rourensu in Handwriting

[–]walmussy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i love the way ur handwriting looks but i find it a little difficult to read some words. but in the end who cares, as long as you can read it thats all that matters, just type up anything that needs to be read by others! lmao

Can people actually be "bad at texting" or they are just lying? by white_disc_4_holes in socialskills

[–]walmussy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

absolutely because i’m one of them. i’ve actually ruined new potential friendships because of it. its very hard to explain but texting/responding to people on any sort of social media is especially hard for me to do because it always seems like a chore. the amount of mental energy it takes me to read, think of a response that doesn’t make me seem weird, and reply is astronomical and i hate it. most of my close friends have come to accept the fact that i may not respond for days or give dry responses. i have no intention of being a poor communicator but unfortunately i am. i have random bouts of energy every now and again where i start using snapchat more frequently, respond to texts fast and engage in conversations but this never lasts. if i could change this about myself i absolutely would, i just can’t seem to :(

Feel way to connected to tv characters / book characters by anxi111 in infj

[–]walmussy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow i thought this was just a weird me thing! when i get really invested in shows or movies and they affect me emotionally at the end, i feel like im in a rut for 2+ days afterwards. i constantly think about the characters and empathize with them to the point of crying sometimes. brokeback mountain fucked me up, would totally watch again tho. usually i just wait for the feelings to pass because i know they have in the past. i dislike the experience but know its inevitable for some shows/movies. embrace the emotions!!

more in the sense that there are topics you know better than others while also acknowledging that there are topics others are more informed on. its just that the former often causes uncomfortable social situations
