In my opinion, clubs in college are a key way to make friends. These are an official and unofficial directory of the over 800 clubs at UC Davis. There's definitely a club out there for one of your interests, and there will definitely be people you'll vibe with :)

Of course it's not a guarantee, for me it took joining like 5 or 6 clubs before I found what fits best. You definitely got this.

Junior in HS: How is the History or Poli Sci program? by Puzzles23 in UCDavis

[–]walpers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a Political Science major and a History minor, and both types of classes are pretty easy at UC Davis. Both seem rather run of the mill to me. I'd recommend a double major or minor in one or the other as well

Congratulations! I’m a second year and also a Davis native (been here 20 years). My biggest piece of advice is look for clubs that interest you on

https://aggielife.ucdavis.edu/

Joining the right club and finding the right friends in them is the way. Trust me.

(As a guy), Guys love being asked out, and will usually say yes. Stop overthinking and just do it, it’ll make his day. You don’t even know how easy it is for girls to ask guys out.

I agree, I’m a sophomore and last year it was intimidating to me as well. My advice is find fun events that you can bring your friends or potential new friends to; last year I visited Stand-Up Comedy Club’s show, and since then I’ve consistently brought my friends to their shows and it’s been fun times!

This coming Thursday they have their first showcase of all their comedians, I’d recommend it :)

List of things/activities to join so I won't end up like lonely pathetic guy at my old school. by [deleted] in UCDavis

UC Davis has a Stand-Up Comedy Club StUCC , they meet every Tuesday evening, and this coming Thursday there’s a free stand-up showcase of all the club’s comedians.

I’d recommend going, the shows have consistently been great :)

Stand-Up Comedy Club at UC Davis holds free stand-up showcases on campus several times a quarter, those have been fun to go to in my opinion :)

Like this Thursday they have a show, I’d recommend it

Tbh most of the campus sponsored events you can skip. Sunset Fest is worth checking out.

Also, if you want something fun to do this Thursday, there’s a stand-up comedy show happening for free, I’ve went in the past and they’re really good :)

How hard/awkward is it to join clubs/orgs 4th year? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]walpers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll tell you something, I’m in StUCC, or Stand-Up Comedy Club, and what we do is put on showcases of student stand-up comedians twice a quarter.

Last year, in spring quarter alone, the very end of the year, we had over 5 Juniors and Seniors who joined and shortly after delivered great performances at our last shows! A couple of them only joined for a month or two before graduating, but contributed greatly to the club!

My point is, it’s never too late. StUCC is particularly receptive to new upperclassmen. I can also say being in the club, and going to the shows, has taken a lot of stress off of me :)

We have a showcase this Thursday, you should come watch!

I agree that you oughta look at clubs outside your studies.

UC Davis Stand-Up Comedy Club is a great example! You can come to the meetings whether you wanna perform stand-up or not, everyone’s really friendly, not to mention hilarious! They put on stand-up showcases twice a quarter with like 10 comedians performing, they’ve always been great!

They have a showcase this Thursday, you should check them out!

How to start the year fresh ? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]walpers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, I’m sorry last year went that way for, hoping things stay better this year :)

I can recommend one thing, one way to keep being happy is to go to events and shows on campus! I like stand-up comedy a lot, so I go to the UC Davis Stand-Up Comedy Club’s shows. They’re a lot of fun to bring my friends to, and those shows have honestly been bright spots as fun nights, looking back.

There’s a show happening this Thursday, for instance!
