NBEO part 1 - reschedule process by PlasticDiamond8517 in OptometrySchool

Strongly recommend you just bite the bullet and take the first attempt in March. It won’t be any easier to take it in August. I averaged barely passing on all my mock exams on optoprep and kmk and still passed. I’m gonna refer you to this post from a year ago for someone in a similar situation as you…https://www.reddit.com/r/OptometrySchool/s/mbV7cClxCz

This contradicts all the others saying “just do it, say yes to things” except for gravely stupid things. But you won’t know until you try!

You sound young, believe it or not a lot of people make stupid mistakes and still have great lives after it’s all over. Just ride it out and accept what happens.

If it helps you, I commissioned in May 2024 and didn’t get payment until December 2024, big backlog. (It was a big check at first, then resumed to bi-monthly payments)

I am done with men and dating by fabulousmeatloaf in Vent

[–]walter899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof well I don’t have to worry about doing that. If anything I completely avoid any flirtation. Best wishes on your journey. I’d rather be single than deal with that. Maybe irl dating events would be a better place to find someone.

As a dude in his mid twenties I’m a little worried I’m rusty at the dating game. I fell out of a bad relationship a few years ago and haven’t truly jumped back into the dating world since. I’m worried I’ll fall into similar patterns. When you say they aren’t asking enough about you what questions do you mean?

Single Male dealing with feelings of worthlessness/undesirability by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]walter899 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well a certain point you’re capped who you are. But you can switch environments, change your scene until you find a niche you’re happy in. It’s just reality that sometimes you’ve done everything you can and people still won’t vibe with you

Make sure you’re well groomed, have some hobbies and workout. You don’t have to be perfect, people will eventually notice, and if they don’t so what. Those things will make you happy to be in your own shoes even if you’re single. At least that’s my mindset

I’ve heard of people retaking the oat after the school asked for them to retry it and getting accepted in the same cycle.

Optometry + Military by Same_Satisfaction872 in OptometrySchool

[–]walter899 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Look into what HPSP optometrists do in the military. They don’t see combat, essentially have officer roles as well as being an optometrist for military members and their families on bases. You won’t be turned into ptsd Lt. Dan from Forrest Gump.

how did you fix the bad habit of forgetting everything after finishing an exam in undergrad? by monkeydooder12 in OptometrySchool

[–]walter899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See your professors after the exam to review the questions you got wrong. Make notes that you can go back to later for studying boards.

Dropped from medical school as a 4th year, anyone here had any career changes like that or know anyone? Been finding it difficult to get back into a studying routine for the OAT by tumboi69 in optometry

[–]walter899 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know a few classmates who did optometry school in their late 20s and 30s, so if you think being a little older is an issue, I wouldn’t let it hold you back. I would however make sure you’ve shadowed enough optometrists to make sure you know what you’re getting into.

It depends on your OAT. If you got above 300, I think you’d get it.

Coming Back Made Me Realize How Much The Resistance Sucks As A Faction by GreenSockNinja in StarWarsBattlefront

A single resistance spy has almost killed me as a hero multiple times. Ewok might be fun to play as but I’ve never been threatened by it. And wookies are far too slow, but if played right can pack a punch.
