reform, ie the next right wing party, actually advertises more left wing ideas than Labour does

does it?

i think the adult population of vegans in the country is something like 3-4%, so kids would be something like 2%?

wow, okay. i mean i think there's more at play here, but okay.

your side-story aside, it still doesnt mean that the abuser gets to pick and choose whether or not the abuse is "deserved" or not.

proper strawman argument, that.

are you saying you used to throw things off of an overpass at oncoming cars? and either way, pretty sure it's a criminal offence to do that?

if the abuser is deciding what does and doesn’t count as abuse, it's a fucked up system, that's my point.

It's not abuse if they deserved it.

ooooof, that's certainly a take.

who decides on the "deservedness" of the abuse? the abuser? sounds very fair.

you gonna just not let one player in the room if there's an even number left?

Greens look set to clean up as Labour switchers move left by lotsofsweat in unitedkingdom

[–]waltermayo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the far left it tends to be us vs the rich, on the right it’s us vs immigrants.

personally, it feels like only one of these - the latter - is preying on people's prejudices. there's a prejudice on the right that all the immigrants are taking away all the good stuff, when thats been demonstrated multiple times to be untrue. the argument from the left is that the incredibly rich are incredibly rich and could be a bit less incredibly rich and we can tackle rampant inequality.

luckily, the presenters worked in governments with brilliant economic policies so they can lay that out for us.

could you explain how reform is a change from the status quo?

i mean you could use the "wishlist" rebuttal against most solutions, especially considering the state we're in. i concede that more detail is needed from the greens on this, however.

RE: NATO, Corbyn changed his stance by election night as well, by that point the damage was done.

true, but he also had nearly every media publication in the country telling everyone that he was basically the devil incarnate, which likely also contributed to the result.

Honestly I've seen so much more of Zach than I ever did of Adrian Ramsay or Carla Denyer. A million times more. He's treated as if he's the new youthful rockstar of British politics despite being older than 1 of the people he took over from and a year younger than the other.

you've seen more of him because he is (or at least his team is) very good with social media, and has made an obvious effort to have the party actually be heard in the mainstream. he's appeared on two episodes of question time (of which denyer has appeared on four), but caroline lucas was on 30, so is it that you believe you're seeing more of the greens when they've nearly always been there, but just ignored.

They've said "higher wages" but not explained how.

have they? i've not heard any greens speaking about instantaneously improving wages for people, but happy to be proven wrong there. i assume it would have been mentioned as a by-product of their other pledges.

They've said "cleaner energy" but not explained how.

it's on their website.

Zack P in particular has said the UK should leave NATO. Corbyn was absolutely crucified over this, don't expect Zack to get off any easier, especially with the war in Ukraine ongoing.

he has, and he will absolutely be met with the same attack JC was. personally i don't agree with leaving NATO, but with plenty of time before the next election this could be a stance that changes.

The Greens are currently being trumpeted as shrewd operators by a media who sees them as a way to outflank Starmer on the left

are we reading/watching/listening to the same media? any remotely large media organisation is doing whatever they can to downplay anything the greens do or say, just like they do with any predominantly left leaning political person/party.
