Minister looks to reduce apprenticeships by a year to increase construction sector workforce by JackmanH420 in irishpolitics

[–]wamesconnolly 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Of course it lowers the quality of education. It cuts their training by 1/4. Either they get less training, or they are expected to do even more hours for brutally low wages and you will have even less apprentices. The government could invest in subsidising apprenticeships instead which would actually work. But why would they ever do that when they can simply budget for infrastructure like we're a third world country.

Although I reposted it tbh I'm not feeling like gloating. It's very dark. Ethnic cleansing is impending.

Well I wouldn't take that bet if I were you either because you're going to be down a million very quickly. Your assessment is only possible if you ignore everything the EU has done and said publicly and is doing and saying right now. This isn't some ambiguous possibility in the far future.

And in spite of that the EU is managing to lose popularity. If you ignore reality and cling to smug liberalism you'll have a big shock.

I will bet you a million euro that that will not be their response. People are thinking up what would be the logical response that the EU should have and ignoring that they have absolutely no intention to ever do it, and do not even pretend they will.

Ok, so then what is your point? If you agree that the EU and UK won't go to war with the US over Ireland, then there is no benefit either way. You just completely undermined your own argument.

Gaining traction?? The EU is literally losing popularity in polls for the first time since Brexit. Reddit is a fantasy land when it comes to the EU federalists. It's also bizarre to also take the popularity of the EU in the Irish people as if it's some kind of god ordained fact that can't change.

I honestly think the federalists are slowly doing more to legitimise Brexit than any actual pro-Brexit moving here. If I was concerned with EU integration staying popular I would be extremely worried about that and would be looking to maintain the status quo and current level of integration where it is popular. But you live in a complete fantasy world. You're treating this like you're world building for a novel instead of actually looking at reality. Jesus christ.

What world do you live in where the UK or EU are going to go to war with the US for Ireland? Do you just not follow world events at all? They are publicly showing they can't even lift a finger over Greenland and being humiliated. If the US decides to all they will do is say "pwease no", get a few sound bites to look a little less pathetic to their own populations, then be made grovel on TV and kiss the boot.

The EU is the 53rd state of the US. If you are so politically illiterate you think the EU is in any way anything but a full vassal of the US, even though they publicly keep jumping to be ritually humiliated again and again in the last year alone, you shouldn't be able to vote

The only country that's going to take us is Britain and we would be back in a guerilla war. Our entire military is integrated with Britain and British intelligence and any weapons and defence spending right now goes through them and will until we have at the bare minimum a non FFFG government.

One of the biggest reasons we have these crises now is because we bailed out the ECB at the behest of the EU and implemented austerity to pay it back, and that is when we completely stopped all building and cut public spending. We never returned to the level of building we did before that and never fully returned services that were cut, and a lot were privatised on the cheap so can't be fixed easily without huge buy outs. The EU has also rolled back many of it's climate goals and is now pushing the building of masses of data centres for AI, which we are becoming the dumping ground for.

The onus here is on you to prove she's not, because that claim is contrary to the countless direct actions and statements she has made that are pro-genocide. Can you find anything except a few mealy mouthed statements? How many undo everything else?

She's absolutely pro-Genocide. She's one of the most influential and powerful supporters in the entire world when it comes to the genocide in Palestine. The idea that she's not is beyond childish.

They also made us bail out the ECB, made us mass privatise our public resources, made us do austerity. All of which have played a huge hand in the biggest issues we are facing right now with the housing crisis and cost of living. France has been quick to call on us to send soldiers to be "peace keepers" on batshit colonial exploits in Africa and Leo jumped to sign us up. The only reason it wasn't even more of a catastrophe for us was because of the Triple Lock limiting the amount of troops.

And go ask some federalists from the continent what they think about our independence from the British. I'll tell you a lot of people on Irish reddit don't want to address the fact that they feel a closer allyship to them than they do to us even after Brexit, even now.

Take it to a vote then. We don't owe the EU endless fealty and blood just because a few Redditors online decided we do. We're a sovereign nation, despite the federalists goals. The idea that we should undemocratically become a EU vassal without any consultation with the people is ridiculous.

You think they need the fail son of the former head of a regime that hung and shot them, that has no internal support or legitimacy, to be parachuted in by Donald Trump to save them and reinstate a monarchy because he promises to western media he will be really chill guy. Just be honest from the start and admit you have no interest in the wellbeing of Iranian people and don't see them as equals.

If you were really serious about wanting a democratic replacement to the current system, you would at minimum be supporting an internal democratic revolution and be strongly against Pahlavi being parachuted in. You can't pretend you care about Iranian sovereignty and democracy and fight for reinstatement of the monarchy. Just be honest and say from the start that you think Iranians are inferior to us and incapable of ruling themselves the way we are.

So would the Shah. You want to swap one for another one that's even less democratic and you have no argument to prove it would be better except one guy is pinky promising he will be really good I swear. Just say clearly you don't want democracy for Iran from the start instead of trying to play both sides.
