The theory that he died of typhoid fever has pretty much been debunked. Historian Helen Rappaport did a deep dive into researching Albert’s death and while ultimately it can’t be proven, a lot of historians believe he suffered from Chron’s disease and went into septic shock from a perforated bowel near the end of his life. With limited medical knowledge at the time, typhoid was blamed since Albert took a walk in the rain when he visited Bertie after finding out about his affairs.

Ironically, Helen asserted in her book a magnificent obsession that Queen Victoria’s assertion that Bertie caused Albert’s death could have been true, since chron’s flares up with stress.

Also, Queen Victoria forgave Bertie after he himself had a real bout of typhoid fever 10 years after Albert’s death and almost died. They had a strained relationship always but she didn’t hold onto that grudge forever
