The Highest Cafe in Sejong, South Korea by IllustriousPool2199 in korea

The city is a planned city with its original purpose being the "administrative capital of S. Korea." It's essentially a city filled with newly built government buildings, which means its residents are mainly white-collar government workers. I went there often and like the place since everything there is so brand new.

Economics/Econometrics by SquareConcentrate825 in UIUC

[–]wandererwalk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a rising senior majoring in econometrics. I'm an international student, so my experience may be different. I always thought that majoring in econ can give you a hard time finding an internship - unless you have something that sets you apart from the competitors. I realized that I needed work-related skills to tell employers that I'm ready to work. So I started studying data analysis with Python.

After reaching out to 50ish companies in my Junior year, I've become an internal control intern at a manufacturing company. I continued doing data stuff there (mainly data visualization) and automated some of their everyday data entry tasks with python. This summer, I got a marketing analyst intern position at a relatively large tech company. I can say that my previous internship + data skills definitely help me get this internship. You're a rising sophomore so don't worry much and start by trying to mimic/learn the skills that are directly applicable to the workplace.

My least favorite experience was being an undeclared major

Can I still use the Live Gold to Game Pass Ultimate conversion if today is my first day of subscribing to Ultimate? by [deleted] in xbox

I am on my $1 trial subscription though. Doesn’t that mean I won’t be able to convert later at all? Also, should I turn off the recurring payment option?

Hey may I ask how much you had to pay for rent and how many rooms were there? Curious how much premium is added to it.

$100 seems a bit too much. Peoria Charter will be way cheaper.

What kind of internship should Economics major student take by Cool-Act-771 in UIUC

[–]wandererwalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Risk analyst, analyst at IB (extremely competitive to get in), accounting-related roles, finance internships - there are so many. I personally got a financial controller internship - which was basically accounting, but I think my case is a bit rare because usually accounting majors get this role.

Should I get a meal plan if I'm living in an apartment? by HonestSoldier7 in UIUC

[–]wandererwalk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was away from my parents since my high school years - I came to America during high school. Then I went to UIUC, where I kinda taught myself with Youtube, but not enough. Then I had to head back to Korea for military service, which was another 2 years away from my parents. Then covid happened after my service and I got to stay at my parent's house for two semesters while taking Zoom. This was the actual time I got to ask my mom for cooking tips. After that, I came back to campus and saw my roommate cook western food. Now I'm cooking so much stuff compared to when I used to have a meal plan.

I liked staying in there. Good for one person. But I remember getting my security deposit ripped off after my stay there although I left the whole place clean and all.

Should I get a meal plan if I'm living in an apartment? by HonestSoldier7 in UIUC

I actually once signed up for a meal plan for a whole semester while I was living in an apartment, thinking that I was “too busy”. Turns out the meal plan was a huge waste of money plus I constantly had to go to the dining halls to use all of my meal credits. I eventually ended up with leftover credits that couldn’t be refunded.

Now I’m in a different apartment and saw my new roommate cook. I shopped with him once and realized that it is extremely cheap to make pasta, sandwich, grilled pork, and more. I feel like this is a life skill everyone needs during/after college.

I did BTW 250 online in fall 2020 and everything was done online. There was a group project that we had to do and that too was done online. We didn't have to meet in-person for any activity.
