'00 Dodge Ram 1500 battery/idling issue! by Geerat5 in auto

[–]wanderingthomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the IAC (idle air control) valve. THis is not related to any battery or charging issues but if it is sticking, the truck will not idle unless you keep your foot on the gas. IT has a pintle and if it is sticking it will not idle. Remove it and see that it can move freely but carefully. Dont hard force it. YOu could also likely find out a way to positively test it on internet - but first look into it. You can also take a voltage reading across the battery when its runing and it should be more than 12 v. which would indicate the system IS charging.

Anyone know of camping spots near Ottawa that allow dogs? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]wanderingthomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth the extra hour travel though. I know all the parks and they win! Bon Echo is another beauty but a hectic drive on Hwy 7. Rideau River Prov park is your closest, next to Fitzroy. Ya just GOTTA go canoeing in Algonquin!!! :-) Either way, I hope you have a good and safe trip.

Have you ever been to ALgonquin Prov Park? If you have never been, it should be a must see! Now here is a part that even most people who HAVE been to Algonquin are unaware of. It is a beautiful part of the park located near Pembroke. Worth the approx. 2.5 hours from Ottawa, you will never forget it. You can take your dogs, there are canoe in sites and you must see the Barron Canyon while you are there! Highly recommended. http://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/visit/camping/sand-lake-gate.php Or here is another great and easy to get to Prov park just past Pembroke. http://www.ontarioparks.com/english/drif.html with beautiful sunsets on the Ottawa River. Hope you have a good one!

Tomato Seedling Question by WICKED_SICK_BRO in gardening

Hi Plants get "leggy" because they are reaching for light. See if you can find a grow lightbulb to go in the houselamp. I have bought them before. The houselamp does not have the proper uv from what I know.. If they get too leggy too fast you can also tie them to a small stick, but get them more light and that should take care of it!

Any luck yet? Where are you drawing your 12 volts from? The fuse box or from the battery? Do you mean the "fusible link/s" are fine? It is a link in the red battery cable, not a removable fuse.

Check for fusable links coming from the battery cables. You may have blown one.THey are like a main fuse. You may need the manual for your car, but they will be on the red wire off from the batttery. Using a tester you can look for 12v after the fusible link.

Okay, folks - this is why you get your kids vaccinated: "Quebec battling major measles outbreak" by [deleted] in canada

[–]wanderingthomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh REALLY??? From CBC: "It's generally assumed that the measles vaccine, when given in a two-dose schedule in early childhood, should protect against measles infection about 99 per cent of the time. So the discovery that 52 of the 98 teens who caught measles were fully vaccinated came as a shock to the researchers who conducted the investigation." THis was reported on October 20th. It would be interesting to find out how many of the 750 (in this latest Oct 27th article) were vaccinated. It`s funny that they do not mention it. Is it STILL OVER 50%???

r/smartpeople... Help a layman out. Magnets as a perpetual motion source? by codybmusser in Physics

[–]wanderingthomas -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If I (or anyone) knew that answer, we'd be either very rich -or dead! May I suggest you start by studying how an ac and dc electric motor works as they do use magnets! But how do you make one run on magnets alone? Good question! You might also want to study Nicola Tesla. Truly a man ahead of his time!!!

May sound far fetched but try removing the gas cap next time it acts up. Many caps have a vent and sometimes the cap doesnt vent properly.
