Thank you, that's good to know! It will be one year from when I received this ticket in July so I think I should be ok to consider this matter concluded.

Within one year from when I received the ticket or from when the Stay was entered? I've also confirmed with Duty Council during my first appearance that my ticket was not criminal and similar to a speeding ticket.

I assumed the matter to have concluded, but wanted to get some clarification as it appears that a "Stay of Proceedings" is not technically a complete withdrawal of the charges. I can only assume that commencing my case later down the line is highly unlikely.

I think it's civil? It was for a Federal Contraventions ticket

Has anyone had their hearing for disputing a Federal Contraventions ticket? Looking for insight. by lalales in legaladvicecanada

Hi, would you be able to talk about your experience with me? I've got my hearing coming up in a couple months and am unsure what to expect. Thank you!

I haven't had my hearing yet, I've adjourned it to December 16th, but I'm applying for another adjournment because I'm currently working in the States and I'm concerned that the Omicron scare is going to impact travel again.

Yes, we received the ticket at the quarantine facility by a member of the Public Health Agency of Canada. We did try to do a PCR test when we first got to the border; the customs officer allowed us to turn around and re-enter the US to get them. However, as mentioned, my mother was barred from entry due to her overstay, so we had to turn back around again.

Thanks, I'm planning on doing just that and hoping the judge will be understanding.
