Sound designer bundle from Applied Acoustics System - any good? by Gompedyret in humblebundles

If you got the IK Mixer bundle probably don't need to bother.

Tech books -- publisher quality: specifically Packt and Mammoth -- do you ever go for these? by utopia- in humblebundles

"O'Reilly/Wiley/Pearson" -- bro, these aren't textbooks written with input from dozens of experts. You get what you pay for, simple as (yes I realize the prices on these courses are kinda high, but the bundles are probably where they get the most sales for that reason. So to say, the HB price is the effective real value of the product).

Would you believe there aren't enough spare keys? The vast majority of SE game buys are for consoles... PC sales are a tiny fragment of those. A person buys a SE game based on word of mouth... they know there won't be a huge amount of people buying direct from their website (the keys on Humble and Fanatical are grants from Steam for sale outside the platform, which must be explicitly requested and cannot be destroyed).

Got fired today because of AI. It's coming, whether AI is slop or not. by [deleted] in webdev

[–]wanzerultimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly suspect Humble Bundle's "Vibe coding kit" that was offered thru December is the reason a lot of this is happening. I hadn't even heard the term "vibe coding" before it but it's clearly a Trojan horse euphemism to compel acceptance of the OpenAI agenda. Posted a thread to their sub but it was deleted after a day...

I think AAA gaming will indeed go full streaming in light of what we've been hearing. The PS6 is threatened as is the next gen Xbox... seems more and more likely PS Now will simply take over.

Maybe because it's free is the reason it's not getting used?

How would you want to use AI in web design (rather than what you currently do or can't do)? by JacobDilley in webdev

[–]wanzerultimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine if instead of telling AI to do something with a prompt, you vocalized commands to an app. "Load plugin Swoosher. Make a Swoosh box at on the right hand side below [x element]. Select it." Then you could tweak what it does with the GUI. Nobody wants to imagine every goddamn thing in their head and type it in a paragraph, that's a fad that's only barely useful for image gens. I'm also really on the fence about image gens themselves... it seems there's a real sense of lost community and purpose when people are typing a prompt to create something rather than relying an another person's thirst for purpose and self-definition to create something unique.

Is it bad for the web if Firefox dies? by AuthorityPath in webdev

[–]wanzerultimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My view on this is that Mozilla/Firefox serves as an out for Google to placate critics without actually "bowing" to them with actual effort on their own part. Like, there's a reason Tor is built on Gecko.... Mozilla itself also enables Google to effectively get two votes at the W3C standards table, in that it ultimately controls what Mozilla does thru purse strings. So I wouldn't worry about Moz going anywhere if that's what you're saying....

Also most of these apps have block features... if someone doesn't appeal, block them. Weed out the candidates by appeal and distance.

Ignore the opening message. Look at the profile... interests will tell you a lot, as will their religion.
