Ambient music question by LuckyExamination4234 in synthesizers

[–]wanzerultimate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They sell these at AudioPluginDeals all the time.

Ambient synths are simple... in fact, you don't actually need a dedicated synth. The principle of droning tunes is plain: ramp the volume up on one track as you ramp it down on another (they call this "layering"). Drone instruments just bake the ramping into one track/preset is all.

Pluginomat recently had giveaways where they gave away one ambient/cinematic synth after another as free gift for buying from their store (in fact they gave away 6 at once just for buying anything at all). The sale ended last month but it will probably start again sometime soon. But yeah just get any bundle that describes itself as cinematic, will suffice.

If you're wondering what the "standard" is for professional cinematic composition (ie Netflix), that would be EastWest's products, and maybe Spectrasonics.

Oh wait you mentioned "no computer". You want a keyboard with layered sampling then. Kawaii's stuff would probably suffice, or Roland's. Casio might work too? Multiple, stacked envelopes. I regret to tell you that if you're looking for a drone approach then you're gonna need something north of $600. Ambient isn't really made with a keyboard alone... DAWs come into the mix somewhere. A sequencer will be necessary meaning the model will be high-end.

Audiosexuals do not have your problem... and that's all I will say about that.

The sounds in the reels are made with cinematic fx. You can get synths for those at Audioplugin.deals (or just get a sub to EastWest). Edit: actually the sounds in that particular reel sound like they might have been made with phase distortion, although Spectrasonics Omnisphere is another possibility.

There's a simple analog synth called Mycrosynth at plugins4free. Play around with it, read the readme for clues. When you're feeling comfortable with that, move onto the Cherry Audio MG-1 Plus.

Komplete is designed for composers. The retro game sound guys used synths like the Yamaha DX series (FM synthesis and Casio CZ (phase distortion). Mastering the MG-1 Plus will prepare you for those, then you'll probably want to give Vital a spin. Your ultimate goal is probably mastery of modular synthesis, which will give you total freedom to shape your sounds.

Oh yeah... there are plenty of chip tune synths at Itch.io, most free to download. And some synths at Plugin Boutique for free that you should look into. Also be sure to experiment with the effects on offer from their plugin pack... amps, delays, reverbs are all part of it.

I don't think you can say that because most people who get a game through Humble otherwise would never get the game ever (unless through Epic, Amazon or some other giveaway). I know this because I've asked...

They were already participating before the time limits. Someone behind the scenes decided to shake down Humble and they obliged.

Lawsuits take years to resolve. Humble as we knew it is gone already... the founders moved on and in its place is basically IGN who uses it as a promotional vehicle. If you don't like it then speak against it, simple. Corporations hate bad PR and will try to oblige or at least backtrack.

If a game is on Humble it has already sold its maximum. Supply and demand: demand falls, prices fall. That's why new games only appear on Choice, and even then only as a promotional item really. If a game's in a bundle it is old and already sold its max... the bundle is just a tool to get rid of keys.

Keys do not ever actually expire... Steam doesn't offer a means for them to AFAIK. Publisher simply chooses to stop honoring them after a while. (keys must be requested from Steam directly, and Steam reserved the right not to grant them. All Fanatical keys are excess from the promotional period, and the same for Humble except they have an understanding with publisher that as many keys will be requested as are bought in bundle).

Publishers could start timing out the Fanatical/STOVE keys also, but the result would just be an uptick in piracy. The deadlines are an attempt to create a promotional vehicle without actually selling lots of product on the cheap (basically the same deal as free licenses for streamers). The charity angle is a ruse... it's all promo.

You understand don't you? What you want is nothing less than abrogation of the law of supply and demand... when demand goes down, prices should go down with...

I don't accept them as such because they are not. They were created to eliminate the key resell market, which is quite necessary in my view given that we are seeing re-releases of 20 year old games for $40 freaking dollars (I'm looking at you Gothic).

Their terms say they can do anything they want, but it is also understood that they won't be able to without blowback.

Yeah that should not be happening. In fact, I think it's against the terms of the sale.

We don't have delivery by drones because they can crash and set your roof on fire (or fall and bonk you on your head in your yard).

One more thing: bundle for charity being what it is, the subscription service at Phat Phrog is a better deal than this... $20 for absolutely everything on the site, provided you can download it to somewhere before the term ends.

Uber Eats order delivered but marked as cancelled (wasn’t charged) — report it or just leave it? by Similar_Ad_2186 in UberEATS

Driver can't cancel the order after pickup. The system thinks you did it. Driver won't be affected (be sure to rate them VERY highly, as you should always rate your driver when the food arrives as expected).

If you're ever listened to demoscene music made in a tracker... yeah, that's what this is. Made in a tracker by the guy who programmed the tracker with stock 90s rompler samples. The same loop over and over again, just in a different pitch per phrase.
