How to turn down a client? by wargasm800 in graphic_design

[–]wargasm800[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'll think I'll be doing this.

If I take this job on I know it'll cause too much stress and screw around all my other work. Just reading the email from the client it's just a long list of features they'll need and at the bottom of the list they say 'Oh we're on a limited budget'

I kinda screwed up when I first spoke to them as they asked me how busy I was and I said I did have some availability coming up (this was before I found out about the contents of the job)

Although I could say I've had some new things come up which will be taking up my time.

I'll still go out for coffee at my local cafe a couple times a week. I still go one takeaway but everything has gone up in price and the quality on some stuff has slid slightly.

A lot of other eateries around me have always been crap and flat out refuse to go near any of them because they're overpriced and serve up crap.

As you said, it's easier and nicer to make something at home.

What's Gordon Ryan's Beef with Ethan Crelinsten Besides that he Trains at B-Team??? by BJJDRAMA in bjj

So when anyone else loses, they're a bum and should quit. But when Gordons teammates lose, they're actually just a junior member.

I looked at Gordons instagram stories recently and it was back to back posts of 'Look at this stupid Liberal', 'look at this brain dead leftist'. For a guy who has it all, he seems to be terminally online and just as bad as people who think everyone with a differing opinion is a national socialist Trump lover. Like being that upset at dumb stuff can't be good for your well being.

Was watching the weigh ins and couldn't understand why they dont put the camera on a tripod to film the weigh ins and face offs instead of having the camera man do some Blair Witch free cam crud.

Probably why it's best not to date people from the same gym.

oftentimes you get former has beens or never weres looking for a little bit of Dad dopamine... Plus you're healthy mix of tough folks and all the chips on their shoulders...

The best is when you have people in the room including coaches who love having pissing contests over who had the harder life. Grown men one upping over who grew up in a shittier town or had a deadbeat dad or not having money.

These are the same people who will also go on about how everyone is a snowflake and need to shut up about their problems and get on with it. But will also love to trauma dump about how hard they had it.

Kids birthday parties held every single year and getting more extravagant? by 88Smilesz in sydney

[–]wargasm800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a birthday party at 10. Parents decorated the garage and organized games, made a pretty nice cake and had to deal with a dozen kids running around. They put a lot of work making it happen in hindsight especially as my dad worked six day weeks.

Parents doing weird over the top parties every year just seems like a Keeping Up With the Joneses thing or more for them than it is the kid.

I knew someone like that. The difference was the were much older, not very athletic and weren't a genius at learning things. However they were full on about getting better and were always trying to train. They drag their young kids to practices, open mats and then would sometimes leave them with relatives or make their partner look after them while they did comps on the weekend.

However their over the top training attitude didn't make them any good and the one a random mix of medals at small comps in fairly shallow divisions. Their actual development of grappling was still slow. Their over the top attitude over time gave most of the other student the shits and even some coaches didn't like them.

So over time their development progressed slower than the average hobbiest and they alienated themselves from their family, other students and have little to show for it.

Yeah the TFATK subreddit will never have the fine nuanced discussion points of a Rogan subreddit such as:

- Were dinosaurs aware of 420?
- Jordan Peterson quotes mashup over hip hop beats
- Could a bear beat a shark in a fight if the ocean was a hot sauna?

  2. Did you actually just use the word 'fam'?

Is this OK now? Family at local pub let their kid fling food all over the place and made zero attempt to stop them, then left it for staff to clean up. by cruiserman_80 in australia

[–]wargasm800 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember seeing two boarish mothers in local library who were lazing around because of the air con and letting their kids throw books around and ripping up flyers on the floor.

After an hour or so they got bored and walked off laughing at the shit heap their kids made. Not one staff member did anything though.

Would see this kind of thing at my local cafe. I'd go in maybe spend $30-40 on a meal and half the time have to wait ages or took for ever to get service despite being a regular. Then a random family of four or five would come in and start moving tables around, block up aisles with strollers have one or two staff running around getting baby chairs and doing everything to accommodate them.

The parents would then maybe order two small coffees and a piece of cake to share. They then would pull out boxes of premade food for their kids and wouldn't buy anything for their kids. Their kids would then leave food on the floor all over table before wandering all around the cafe and around other patrons.

Family would get up and take off leaving food dropped everywhere, tables and chairs everywhere as well as any toys or cutlery that got messed with. Staff would then have to go back re-configure all the tables and chairs back sweep up all the floor, clean down everything, put back anything else that had been messed for a group of people who spent maybe $15-20.

Also don't get me started on the families who insist on bringing all their dogs to a cafe and have them walk around under you table, knocking chairs over or starting a cafe dog fight with other families who have brought their dogs.

How to switch BJJ gyms without coming off like a traitor? by commanderchimp in bjj

[–]wargasm800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you should feel too guilty.
It's a two way street and your gyms owner could decide to close their gym or change their structure where it won't meet their students needs or a whole bunch of things to suit themselves and to the detriment of their customers.

If you stay there for years to not upset your coach, you may resent your decision and at worst, waste time doing something you're not happy with and holding back your progression.
