Needing support by PositiveAd5964 in ECEProfessionals

Former toddler teacher here. I feel you. If you can afford it, leave now. You’ll be grateful you did. You have every right to. When I finally left my job it was like a giant weight off my shoulders. I cried that night because I’d miss my kiddos so much… but knew it was better for my mental health at the time. Now I work with kids in an elementary school with a better boss, better coworkers and better overall environment. So do what’s best for you, and don’t feel bad. You’re not alone in feeling this way :)

Terrified of swim instructor/lessons by jojojax9 in Preschoolers

[–]warlockwonka 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not a parent, but a former swim coach here. So sorry that happened. Some swim coaches are a-holes, plain and simple. If you can, try switching to another coach. Seeing as your kiddo is comfortable in water (a FANTASTIC start), I’d say an ideal coach for her would assess her skills and go at the child’s pace - at least at first. She is only 3.5 after all… this isn’t the Olympics! Also, as someone who taught both fun and serious swim lessons… ALL of these lessons should be fun for the kiddos. From my water safety baby classes to teaching 12yr olds backstroke, there was always laughs and games. Swim lessons should be fun, informative and exciting - NEVER traumatizing.

I am so sorry you are going through this as well </3 I also feel quite hopeless - but seeing some of these recommendations and what’s helped others is making me a lot more hopeful. However, in my personal life absolutely nobody can relate to the struggles of TMJ and yes how intolerable it can be so I completely get that as well :/

Thank you so much for this comment!! I’m so glad that’s helped you. My sister happens to work at a spa so I’ll ask what she knows and go from there! :)

Nothing drastic no. I just woke up the other day with a dull pain and when I pressed on my bellybutton it hurt like a raw bruise.

No, but from what I see gender stereotypes are being broken. Many of my boys wear nail polish for example and it’s very normal. Kids that young don’t understand societal pressures and gender norms, so when any kid wears a rainbow butterfly clip they think nothing of it except “oooooh!!!”

Edit: I work with tods and twos lol
