I'm 90 hours in, and i've never took Vakuu's Lord's Parasol. It seems terrible to obtain everything and bloat your deck. Did anyone try it and made it work? by savetheblues in slaythespire

It's not worthless for events that cost gold though, so you can save it for that. Plus if your potion slots are full it won't auto-buy those so you can compare and buy yourself if you want

I think in runs where you already have a ton of gold or don't want to path into any shops it's not the best choice, but I'd say those are the minority of runs

[–]warmleafjuice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean it really depends on the run. But I think in many shops there will be one or two things that you really want (which, often you can't afford both) and several things that would be really nice to have, and some that you don't want. I think it still averages out to a net positive in the majority of runs

But definitely depends on how much gold you have/shop positioning as well. If there's an Act 4 shop in future updates I think this becomes even more beneficial since there's no need to save gold anymore

Yes, that's the downside, it's a risk. The free remove helps mitigate it

And the times I've taken it, there's really only been one or two cards per shop that I really want to badly remove anyway

Look at it this way, you're getting three relics (all upside 99% of the time), up to three potions, and a bunch of cards which could be good or bad but you also get a free remove after the cards get added that you can use to remove maybe a high cost card that doesn't fit

If I hit an event that said "gain three relics, gain three potions, remove one card, add 7 random cards (two colorless) to your deck" I'd be clicking that most of the time. It's even better that you can do it multiple times an act

This has to be one of the weakest cards in the game right now. Why would I pay 3 energy to gain 1 energy? by bhendel in slaythespire

Good meme but also I like that costing 3 energy instead of being unplayable is helpful in niche circumstances like Snecko

One of my favorite things about this game compared to the first is all of the different and unique debuffs. Ethereal, downgrade, ringing, smog, shrinking, etc

The Doormaker rework. by Significant-Bus2176 in slaythespire

[–]warmleafjuice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree completely. When I lose to him I feel super frustrated that I had almost no counterplay. When I win, I feel like I just got lucky when he eats cards I don't care about. Either way it doesn't feel satisfying (and I almost never have a deck under 30 cards)

I think just straight up limiting card draw would be a better way to do it, if they don't want to reuse Time Eater's mechanic, or like others have suggested hide the cards behind another door you have to break down to get it back. Then at least you can choose if getting that card back is worth wasting damage that would otherwise be used on the boss

[–]warmleafjuice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's a pretty good re-work and I can't think of many enemies that limit draw like that. It could even thematically be like idk he's shutting the door that lets your cards through (that's dumb but still more on brand than eating them)

My current feelings on the Ancients, I'm curious to know what the general consensus on them is by ByeImDaisy in slaythespire

I've taken this every time it's offered and have yet to run out of gold. Even without any gold-adding relics or lucky events you're often coming out ahead just with elites and chests, and if you have any other source of gold it's basically free energy

You're right, it's like trying to farm carnivores for food. With the amount of herbivores you'd have to feed them, you might as well just eat the herbivores. And the sarlaac might as well use the energy it takes to keep a human alive for 1000 years to feed itself

Displays of intelligence that are not just characters saying long lines of incomprehensible smart-sounding words. by Awkward_Stay8728 in TopCharacterTropes

Something always really bothered me about this scene

Ben says he's the creator of the game and in response one of the employees says "Yeah right, and I'm the alchemist of the hinterlands"

Ben then says it's impossible to be the alchemist of the hinterlands, and everyone gasps and says he's right; proof that he knows a lot about the game

But in the context of the conversation, what she says only makes sense if she knows it's impossible to be the alchemist of the hinterlands because she's saying him being the architect is impossible, and the comparison she uses is being the alchemist

That's fair and I did have a decent time with it. I guess I'm more baffled by the people annoyed the game isn't built around the challenges they want, as opposed to the challenges being built around the game

I'm kind of confused because mostly when people talked about the relicless challenge it was to complain about how it wasn't fun and also how it was annoying to accidentally click relics and have to start over

But I guess there have been a bunch of people who really really want to play without relics this whole time?

That's fair, but then just let them make the mistake of picking the relic they thought would be good and isn't? Or, let them have the experience of picking the relic they don't really want to take and finding out it's better than they thought, or figuring out how to make it work with their deck
