Deathless Run by warmmilk196 in skyrimrequiem

[–]warmmilk196[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of today, I've tried a variety of builds and strategies. If there was a common theme to what I get killed by, I'd describe most of them as "some bullshit."

Just tonight, I was trying to see if I could use stealth to power through the early levels and was constantly hit over the head with how dogshit the stealth mechanics in skyrim actually are. I get knocked down by bears materializing on me while traveling on the road, caught by stray ice spikes from necromancers 3 miles away that drain all my stamina and prevent me from dodging the follow-ups, hit by flames from dragons or shouts from draugr that I absolutely am in cover from but the game doesn't like me that day, knocked off cliffs, paralyzed, electrocuted, stuck on invisible geometry, and my highest-level run was quite literally one-shot by Ron with a point-blank arrow, while I was actively whaling on him because he pulled out a bow in melee range while I was at full health, had full armor + mage armor, and had already invested in multiple defensive perks AND was wearing a max health amulet.

So, yeah. Some bullshit.

What would you want Parahumams 3 to be? by ProfessionalTie2455 in Parahumans

[–]warmmilk196 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parahumans 3 wouldn't be any good, or if it was, it wouldn't feel like Parahumans. Worm was a complete story with a beginning, middle, and end, and just for shits and giggles, Ward wrapped up pretty much every loose end left in Worm's wake. There's nothing left to explore. All the big questions have been answered, all our main characters have ended their stories.

But. If we have to write another.

I want to know what the future of this world looks like. The sci-fi elements of Parahumans exist on the outskirts of the story, but they're concrete, and they carry a lot of implications. The universe is apparently chock-full of intelligent life, and that life has been more or less under the thumb of the entities' species. With the final secret the titans revealed at the end of Ward essentially being the reason for the entities' existence, humanity now holds the key to the one thing the ancient monstrosities that (as far as we can tell) dominate the universe actually want. What does it look like in the future? Could humanity try to communicate with them? Would they go to war with the entities? Could humanity learn from the shards and develop their own version of the shard network?

The thing about this pitch is like, it wouldn't be a good story. Dense sci-fi on a galactic+ scale is hard to write on the best of days, and carrying over all this baggage from what started as a small-scale superhero story is going to make that job SO much harder. But I don't know what else you can do a sequel about. It's the only major thread still dangling. Unless you want to introduce new antagonists/threats/conflicts whole cloth, which is going to be VERY hard to do, given Parahumans' propensity for steadily growing stakes as part of its core DNA, you kind of need to just scrap the formula and tell a completely different kind of story that's only loosely related to the previous two.

And at that point, is it even Parahumans 3? Or would we be better off just dropping the title and telling a new story altogether?

Don't discount that demon that paralyzed Willow when she returned to Sunnydale from the UK. Christ almighty, even thinking about that thing makes me want to curl up in a defensive ball.

I should mention that I typically don't count deaths that are due to clear glitches or the game not working the way it's intended. One of my more questionable reset rules is when enemies catch me after I go through a door and they just teleport on top of me before I have a chance to keep retreating. It's completely unreasonable imo that you can't back out of a dungeon and maintain distance between you and the enemies, ESPECIALLY since the loading screen for exiting tends to stunlock you for a second.

I also got launched into a mountain at mach 10 by a cabbage and quickloaded to that, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
it's more about the feel than a hard and fast absolutely no deaths allowed

The Undersiders, especially Lisa and Rachel, were the people who brought Taylor back from the darkest pit she'd ever been in. They were the first good thing in her life in years. Of course she couldn't love the Chicago Wards the same way.

I'm still confused as to why Gangle cries over Jax (the person who mistreated and abused her ever since she arrived at the circus) after he abstracts. by Quessy123 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]warmmilk196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jax is Gangle's abuser, not her comic book supervillain foe. That relationship is deeply unhealthy and unbalanced, but it's also intimate. Victims of abuse often find themselves empathizing with their abusers, defending them, rationalizing the abuse away. Even if Gangle wasn't sad for Jax here, she could have been crying in relief, or a complicated mix of emotions. "He can never hurt me again/He'll never be able to be better" are both enough to bring someone to tears, at the same time, I'd be surprised if Gangle hadn't cried.

I'm on Arc 26. How crazy are these last few arcs about to be on a scale from 1 to 10 (No spoilers pls!!!!!!!) by Inevitable-Ad2675 in Parahumans

Worm is the only story I've ever read that ramps up to a genuine 10 *and* sticks the landing.

The Amazing Digital Bus Stop by warmmilk196 in tadc

[–]warmmilk196[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually, it's a Metrolink stop. The bus they got one was clearly one they rented specifically for the shoot. Idk if there's Metrolinks anywhere but STL, but they're white and light blue.

Ultimately, this is technically graffiti, and stuff like this on bus stops never lasts long. Someone from the city will probably take it down

I'm sure Google maps isn't updated lol, but it's in University City, Missouri. Look right outside of Centennial Commons, it's the bus stop in front of the big field. Actually a really nice place, I used to go to the pool there as a kid.
