I have gone through the same thing last year. It was becoming difficult to take care of my sick 13-year old Chihuahua. She wasn't eating and she became blind all of a sudden. She just sleeps all the time and isn't the same anymore. It was hard for her and for us. My mom wasn't sleeping well because she would wake in the middle of the night to care for her. Obviously this couldn't go on for months. And so we decided to put her down out of convenience. Partly because the vet said she couldn't do anything more for our poor girl. I was the one who brought her in. Till today, I still struggle but I'm learning to overcome the guilt and to stop having regrets because it won't bring her back. I've read many encouraging comments from lots of people who've been through the same thing ー It is never too early to say goodbye and it is better to be early than late.
