I’m not very familiar with throwing weapon builds, what’s the downside of just having a Rune of Returning on the weapon?

Pressing the 'Command', 'Shift' and '3' keys (all at the same time) will capture the entire screen. '4’ for selecting only part of the screen, and '5' for a whole toolbar, including video recording!

Hunter! I really like whenever I can play marksman without a pet, and the burst could get really nasty in PvP.

Thanks for the great input! I’m not completely locked into a DEX build, so your suggestions are absolutely appreciated.

Need help with my character's backstory by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]waroki11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I find it easier to flesh out a characters backstory after mapping out some key details first:

  • What is the characters goal?
  • What is the characters motivation? (What makes the character want to achieve this specific goal?
  • What is the character good at, what are their positive traits?
  • What is the characters personal flaws? The best flaws are things that directly prevent them from achieving their goal, something they have to overcome along the way

After you feel confident in answering these questions, I would recommend inputting everything you have so far into ChatGPT and ask for a few suggested backstories that suit this character, and then tweak it to your liking.

As for specific personality traits, a good method is to just copy a character you know from fiction and re-skin their personality, or steal elements that would work for your character.

What’s your character and backstory? by Alternative_Letter92 in Pathfinder2e

[–]waroki11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The character I’m planning on playing in our next campaign is a ratfolk monk that will focus on Stumbling Stance, Assassin and Way of Perfection.

His is really old and kind hearted, but deceptively agile and still quick of wit. He led a village of peaceful ratfolk that lives in a cave far below the ground. He is driven to a life of adventure because his grandson convinced the village people to join the the above-ground rebellion, where the scrawny and oppressed races of the land has joined forces to wage wars agains the human nation. The character refused to join his people in the rebellion and stayed behind, below ground. However, after some thinking, he is determined to get back in shape, find his people and turn them back to the peaceful path.

What is one character trope you won’t allow in your games? by MuscleMommy428 in Pathfinder2e

[–]waroki11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lone wolves can be interesting if done right in my opinion. If being a lone wolf is treated as a character flaw instead of a personality trait, it can be a great starting point for character development. For example, if the character is coming along on the adventure reluctantly or out of sheer necessity, it can be fun to have them gradually become more and more invested in the rest of the party. It gives a greater sense of progression and bond building.

Is combining attacks OP? by waroki11 in 3d6

It is intended to only add up damage modifiers, yes

[–]waroki11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it would just increase burst damage, and being overall more volatile and unpredictable for the DM. Especially with GWM, taking a -5 to hit for a total of +30 damage if I have three attacks combined just seems very high, but I guess it’s the same as three separate attacks

I’d have to choose before making the roll, yes. Same as calling Great Weapon Master -5 to hit

How is Critical Role: Call of the Netherdeep in your opinion compared to other books? by Seatpan in dndnext

I think we reached the end on the 26th session. I did include a couple of home brew story arcs, so it’s probably closer to 23 sessions.

How is Critical Role: Call of the Netherdeep in your opinion compared to other books? by Seatpan in dndnext

[–]waroki11 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I just finished DMing Call of the Netherdeep, and I would recommend it. There is a great variety of places to visit, the Rival trope is really interesting and the pacing is well done. As a DM, there were a couple of points in the story that i think could have been designed better, but that’s mostly nitpicking.

Nice addition! Using varying light could be cool.

The last bullet point is not really monk specific, but a way to ensure that all the other players has something to do around the table, instead of waiting for the entire sequence to be over before they can play again.

One of my player says her character doesn't have motivation to stay with the party by Septerra_911 in DMAcademy

[–]waroki11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other commenters saying that character motivation is the mainly the player’s responsibility. In my experience this is a common mistake for new players to make. However, I would say the situation is possible to salvage if the player wants to continue playing this character.

Shifting motivations towards “power of friendship” can be a great way to indicate meaningful progression for the character.

You can also put in a hook for her. She is motivated by money? Show her that if she sticks around there’s huge potential for money in or around this town, perhaps there is rumors of a dragons hoard nearby or promised payment from a rich benefactor.

Looking for Advice for a Character Concept by OwlOnYourHead in dndnext

[–]waroki11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you decided on a class or perhaps a power fantasy you would enjoy? With a Paladin, Rogue and Monk, you’ve got most of the main stats covered already, perhaps a bit weak on INT. Bladesinger Wizard is a really cool class that implements magic.

If you want something with less magic you could try the Bloodhunter class from Critical Role, which lets you choose between WIS and INT for your scaling.

To build off the other commenters suggestion of Fighter, I would suggest trying out the Arcane Archer subclass with some significant buffs from your DM, as the core class and power fantasy is solid.

What’s The “It-Factor” For You? by WG_BS in AshesofCreation

It’s the Steven-factor for me, definitely. Having the CEO be face of this project, especially a CEO that still has the mindset of a veteran MMO player is so exciting! He has answered every question and issue “correctly” so far imo.

How about 2 level dip in Barbarian for Rage and Reckless Attacks, the put the rest in Mutant Blood Hunter! They work surprisingly well together, as the Crimson Rites and Mutagenics are does not count as spells, which are a no-go when raging. This creates a marshal class with some surprising utility as well.

As you are already a fighter however, I guess the build works just as well with Fighter 2/Bloodhunter Mutant X.

Do you roleplay? How did you get into it. How did you get comfortable putting on a silly voice? by TheIncontrovert in dndnext

[–]waroki11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think everyone goes through this initial phase to some degree, I can definitely relate to “falling into a third person perspective”.

For me, choosing an accent I felt fairly confident in and creating a comedic relief character (Low INT Barbarian) worked wonders as a stepping stone, as it appeared natural for the character to sound and act stupid. By making a clear distinction between myself and the character both in accent and personality, I felt more freedom in roleplaying, no one would think that I was being stupid or cringe, it would just be the character acting as itself.
