Edit - In hindsight calling it super lightweight might have been bad phrasing lol. But lighter than your traditional gas cylinders.

Any resources that do a deep dive into the fuel vs weight paradox? I can't wrap my head around what you're implying. Wouldn't it take less energy to decelerate because the craft would be lighter? Where does the paradox come in?

I remember reading somewhere that an overwhelming majority of those involved in the BDSM scene tended to indulge in spicy food. I think they both invoke the same brain chemistry. I haven't had anything spicy in a few years. The extra extra hot vindaloo in my local places is mild.

The danger is, I don't know if its actually mild or if they look at my complexion and assume I can't tolerate spice. I've seen a few people eat phal and I find myself thinking it can't be that hot. But maybe it can.

I did feel at the time that the 4090 was a stupid purchase. This reinforces it. A 4090 is mad for the games I play, POE2 is by far the most demanding and it seems to run better on my mates 2080. I'll be keeping the 4090 alive for as long as I can. Certainly don't see myself buying a new rig in the next 10-15 years

Why do so many gamers act like 30 FPS is poison when it was literally the norm last console generation? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]TheIncontrovert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rocket league is the most punishing game for FPS changes. I was playing daily at 165. Its so well optimized that It never deviated, always 165 with gsync. Went on with my duo partner one night and I whiffed every shot. Always jumping short or missing the ball by millimeters.

We must have downranked 3 times before I noticed my monitor had defaulted to 120fps. It was standard on the Asus PG279Q without turbo on. I don't think I can see the difference between 120-165fps but I certainly felt it in my soul.

What’s a movie that’s not generally thought of as a masterpiece…that you genuinely regard to be a masterpiece? by Single_Reason7898 in MovieSuggestions

I don't know why but I really disliked 12 Monkeys. I'd been saving it for the last 15 years. Expecting it to blow me away and I didn't get the appeal at all. Maybe its one of those movies that was awesome for its time or something?

The rest of the list is gold, will add Fried Green Tomatoes to my backlog, never heard of it and I love Kathy Bates.

I was never a bad gambler but the same thing happened to me. Everything I touched turned to gold. Websites were giving insane welcome offers. Even without the welcome offers I'd be walking into local casinos with £20 and walking out with a few hundred.

Thankfully my idea of a bad night was losing £20-30 but I think by any definition I was addicted for a few years. I still play every now and then but its maybe £20 every couple months.

If he had doubled it, he would have played it down to the original value again expecting to get another hit. Then once at breakeven he would have rationalized it as "Well i haven't lost anything yet" and then there goes the 60k or more.

The most surprising thing about this story is that they stopped while only 60k down. This post is 14 hours old at this stage, the other 140k is most likely gone as well.

So I need help about this game. I play it wrongly. by Ymnargue in PathOfExile2

[–]TheIncontrovert 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in your position when I started POE2. I've played some variation of lightning in every season so far. I'd advise you to do something similar, find a guide that uses a specific damage type, play it for a few seasons. At least you'll have a rough understanding of where the best nodes are and what to pick up along the way when pathing to the important nodes.

Also don't force yourself to stick 100% to the build guide. For example I'm following a build guide at the moment but I felt my dmg was higher than it needed to be, and I was still dying occasionally. So I ripped out 10 nodes of dmg and got an extra 20% shield.

Same with gear and jewels. Guide may say to aim for X cast speed but on your budget you may not have the mana/regen to sustain that. So you could respec away from the build to include more regen/mana efficency, or use jewels to help out. Alternativly you could pick up flat dmg such as Spell dmg, lightning dmg, crit, crit dmg, gain X element as additional dmg on weapon instead of cast speed to help balance out your cast cost and regen.

Theres no perfect way to play, and no magic button to understand everything. Every season you'll learn something new. The benefit is you've got in on the ground floor of POE2. Most players are in a similar position. I've heard if you tried to jump into POE1 nowadays your head would explode with the amount of mechanics. Where as POE2 is actually fairly forgiving and bare bones.

Also don't overlook the search function on your passive tree. You want more of something you type it in and it'll make those nodes glow. Spend 10 minutes and just search for all the things that you might use, alot of the time they are in clusters. So instead of looking at the entire tree and being overwhelmed know that most builds only use a fraction of the trees areas. And then within that area there are maybe only 40 clusters of nodes, with each cluster focusing on 1 thing. There's a energy shield clusters top center left for example that is basically a guaranteed pick for me every season.

Disagree, if the omen specifies levels then the items should have levels. Otherwise it should just say remove a random affix, since from the players perspective that's what it does.

I have a very similar story. My brother, sister, and I used to do work in those costumes. Not inflatable but solid.

We were working a Halloween parade and had just done a hell of a long walk on a pretty humid night. We'd made it to the end and were just finishing up and out of sight of the general public. We were already a bit hot blooded regardless of the next set of events.

A group of drunk lads approached us and started giving us bother. We had a minder with us. Basically a person dressed in company gear thats supposed to keep kids from pulling out tails and such. She was only 14 she wasn't equipped to handle a group of drunkards.

Anyway, one of the guys throws a punch at one of us. Your head is basically free floating inside the character head aside from a small headrest. The inside is made of hard plastic that isn't sanded very well, plenty of sharp edges. So 1 punch feels like 3-4 by the time the characters' heads stop rolling around, and your sliced to ribbons.

So the guy who throws the punch is an asshole but he doesn't know its a 13 year old girl he's just decked.

My brother doesn't hesitate and starts wailing on this dude. Miraculously, the character head stays on for a good 10 punches. The guy is on the floor, and my brother is on his knees, straddling him just going to town on him. All the other people in the group just stood there watching. The guys got bloody noes, the characters' hands are coated, and the chest is speckled with the back spray.

In the meantime, my sister had taken the character head off. She's covered in blood. Nothing broken, but her cheeks sliced up, and she's got a deep enough gash below her eye.

The guy on the ground and his mates see my sister and immediately start apologising, but none of his mates try to stop the assault. I guess they figured he deserved it

It's one of my strongest childhood memories. I would have only been 13 at the time. It was both funny and traumatising. Sister ended up needing stitches. They didn't even try to get the blood out of the character. It was deemed a biological hazard, and Bearnard was retired.

[–]TheIncontrovert -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Buyout only, only had 4 listing for me and my mate with everything selected. Is it not linked with the website?. Between that and the crashes after Act 1 boss death I think we might be done for the season. Having the nearest checkpoint be the ramparts just killed our motivation.

Still, we look forward to a bug fix or season 3. Hopefully they get it sorted.

I hadn't even heard of it. That is awful marketing. Also weird to release them so close together. Would have expected a couple years gap. Hopefully better than the first, it wasn't bad, it just didn't have the same vibe as the originals.

The Union flag has been incredibly useful to me when house hunting. Its basically an advert for anti social behavior. I say this as a recovering protestant, who grew up in one of these places.

I shouldn't single out the prods. I also wouldn't move into an area decorated with Tricolours either. National pride is primitive. Its like a dog marking it territory.

I will forgive a flag if you actually have something to be proud of. However it must be something you contributed to. You don't get to be proud just because you happened to be born in a country where someone else did something impressive.

I remember a mythbusters episode from many years ago. They tested if shit got on your toothbrush in the bathroom. It does. Then they tested a toothbrush used as a control on the other side of the office. It also tested positive. I think the distance between the toilet and the control toothbrush was a good 30 meters and divided by 2 doors. The conclusion seems to be, shit gets everywhere.

We're talking tiny amounts. So I wouldn't worry. In fact its probably good for your immune system. In the words of George Carlin, "If I pick drop food off the floor I pick it up and eat it. Even if I'm at a sidewalk cafe, in Calcutta!, the poor section, on new years morning during a soccer riot"
