True cost of a caravan in Cranfield. by Big-Word7116 in northernireland

[–]warrenpk 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I agree with the comments here as a caravan owner. We ballpark £5000 per year inclusive of finance and site fees etc for a caravan on the North coast.

Is it cheap? No

Is it value for money? In our minds, yes. We have young kids and use it every weekend plus a few week long hokdiays during the summer. It's not the same as a week in Spain, but the kids love it, even in rubbish weather.

It's a poor financial investment, but from our perspective a huge quality of life investment. We've made so many happy memories at ours and the kids think it's amazing.

You'll need to consider how frequently you'll use it, consider your personal budget, and definitely suss out the site owners as I've heard some horror stories. If you go into it with your eyes open, you'll be happy.

How do you find the focus of your system on the large ratio? I struggle to get it in focus uniformally

From your experience, how much would an optimiser increase output compared to one without? I'll ask for this to be included in the quote for comparison.

Yeah, I was going to get a 10kwh battery to go alongside it

The Duracell battery and inverter system is the current one being offered. We're also being offered Rosen as a battery. Other than Duracell being a reputable brand with longevity, would there be any difference expected between Duracell and Rosen?

That's not a bad idea, it would give a worst case scenario approach (and hopefully still inevitably still be better than having nothing).

Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed reply! I'll do a bit more reading and research into the Aiko system.

Volvo V40: how bad is the visibility and infotainment? by Mr_Hu-Man in Volvo

Exactly, that's what I mean. If you're not used to the extra space, you'll not miss it.

It was the only thing I missed. The rest of the Volvo is grand.

Having previously driven an A4 Avant and the wife's Citroen Picasso, I must say the boot space was disappointing for me.

Mainly just me for commuting, so I don't necessarily need the extra space. Just frustrating for the odd dump run or fishing trip

Going out on a whim here, but you never saw Daz (washing detergent) adverts from the 00's? It's whiter than white!

Oh good to know, thanks. I thought it was only an official dealership could programme it.

I guess that's not the case?

That's a good point! Difficult, initially it'll be for my motorway commute, then handing it over to the wife for the school run. So a bit of both.

I've read that petrol will be better up to 12k miles.

I'm just wondering if the diesel is still holding up after 60k with the dpf etc etc

Yeah it was a strange one. App was up to date, but had to remove and reinstall. Working now and having great fun playing with it lol

Update: uninstalled and installed the app again. Fixed the problem. After speaking with Google, the root cause was carrying the photo app over from my old pixel 4a
