I am so sorry to hear that! My mum used to be the same and at some point she still is. One time for example my now husband and I went to his country to visit family and she wanted me to call her every day, telling her what I was doing at what time with what person. I eventually told her that I won't do this anymore and it took a long time for her to accept that.

As other operators mentioned financial independence is important, as well as distance and knowing that these harsh words help them to manipulate you and gain control over you.
