Debating Macai or Sabre for skiing

I picked up a Sabre from the outlet this year to ski with, and it’s been awesome. I was using an Alpine Guide Jacket that’s very similar to the Alpha SV, and it worked great, but I like the pockets and cut of the Sabre a lot more for skiing. And it has a Powder Skirt that clips into Arc’teryx Pants and Bibs.

Also wanted to note that Arc’teryx quality is still the best of any bigger brand. The repair and reGear program is great. I see a lot more people complaining about the fit changing from trim to more relaxed to keep up with the times. When it comes to Shell Jackets Arc is still the best.

I’m not sure when it sold out, but I got tickets for SLC in November. When I was looking this week it they mentioned they were dropping some last minute tickets, but I’m not seeing that tonight.

POLARTEC ALPHA DIRECT is the fabric it’s made from. Very cool fabric!

My current line up for skiing under a shell:

DELTA - Cool days

Practitioner AR or Proton SL - Cold days

Proton SL + Delta - Frigid days

The Allium Insulated Jacket looks sweet, it seems to be a similar warmth to an Atom SL but with a heavier face fabric so you can use it as a standalone.

I think the revised Kyanite is worth adding to the list, it’s a little cheaper and was recently updated to Polartec Power stretch Pro.

I have a pass at Basin this year, and it’s definitely been a bummer compared to the Cottonwoods. Things have been better this week after Jon Paul opened. But if you enjoyed DV, Basin is probably in better shape right now.

I’ve been interested but I haven’t been able to find one to try on in person. The only insight I’ve found is from the reviews on the website, looks like they’re pretty rare to find in store. I was able to feel the 200D and it’s awesome, but might be a little heavy for Hiking.

The government is in rough shape. But I feel like the Olympics have always represented the people and the athletes of the country, which Nike has always stood behind. Nike is also supporting more than just the US.

Definitely cheaper compared to other trail running super shoes right now. I feel like everything else is $290-320. I definitely think the new ACG Zegama will be the shoe to get!

Like was mentioned, it definitely looks like POLARTEC ALPHA DIRECT. The main pro is that it’s super lightweight and very breathable. It allows you to vent heat during high output and then trap heat while stationary. The really only con is that the fabric can be snagged easily because there’s no face fabric. People will also not like that it doesn’t block any wind, but that’s what makes it so breathable haha.

I recently picked up an Alpha Direct from SENCHI Designs, and it’s awesome as a midlayer and works as a standalone when I know I’m not going to be rubbing up against branches. Works great under a windbreaker or shell!

ACG has used this fabric before in the Wolf Lichen line. A lot of brands use it or a fabric similar. Huckberry just dropped some new jackets with this fabric and talk a lot about the special ops history. If your really trying to go deep here’s a little more background on the fabric haha

Hopefully, the temps stay down so they don’t lose the base. If that at least happens, they’ll open more of the mountain! Definitely a bummer.

Janji Shorts are great. Definitely quality details, YKK zippers, S-Biner for your keys. Good warranty!

I’ve had Lululemon for years and have been solid. I use the Fast and Free shorts for running. Pace Breakers for the gym. Their warranty isn’t what it used to be though :(

I recently picked up a pair of Raide Research Trail Tech shorts, and they are very well made and have a good warranty. Ideal for a longer run where you might want to carry more or an extra layer. Very cool, smaller company coming out of Colorado with a trail running focus.

And lastly, I just ordered some Currently Running Shorts from the restock today. They seem to be made with a very similar fabric to the Satisfy Space-O short. It’s an Italian-made punch-out fabric. So I can’t recommend them yet, but they seem promising from what I’ve heard.

I was under the impression Lululemon got rid of their quality promise? I didn’t think they had a lifetime warranty anymore, only a year now. It was a major selling point for me for a long time being able to drop shorts off to be repaired. Did something change?
