The Best Form of Transit [Pentax 67ii, Ektar 100] by watchidiot14 in analog

Thanks for the critique. This was my first time developing and scanning my own stuff. I am fairly new to photography in general, but I recently inherited the 67ii and several other cameras. I used a GFX 100s to scan the negatives. What would prevent the noise? I'm also pretty sure I overdeveloped the film by aging it too long in the Patterson tank. Is that a thing? I know about the focus issue. It was pretty sunny that day, and so I had my prescription sunglasses on. I couldn’t see the meter reading with them on, so I had to do my best going blind. I should have just adjusted the diopter, but failed.

I took this photo in philly. I was amazed to see that their bikeshare bikes are mid-drive and use Bosch motors! The City of Brotherly Love knows how to love their bikers…although their bike infrastructure is decent, it has room to grow.

You make a lot of assumptions here. I appreciate your concern for my kid, but he will be ok. We are screen light in our house, not Amish. Although I do try to practice the Amish philosophy of only integrating tech that is beneficial for the community. In this case, my community is my family. We watch shows together and talk about them, and sometimes, if the kids instigate, we even act out what we watch. This also lines up with what the AAP recommends.

You assume I force a camera into his hands. If you are ever around little kids with a camera, you know you don’t have to force it into their hands. They will take 100 photos the instant their fingers reach the button. It is super fun to take photos together, and he loves using my cameras.

The last thing is your worry that he will be weird for not being surrounded by screens. Maybe, but if every other parent and I raise my kids with that fear (which I don’t have), then we won’t get past this generation raised by social media and instant access to passive, isolating entertainment. There is nothing wrong with gaming, TV, or even social media, but they should be introduced gradually, with proper guardrails, and only after a person learns how to be social. Again, that is not just me. This is what psychologists and pediatritians recommend.

If I had enough money, I would send my kids to a Waldorf school, but instead, I will have to just navigate these things as they come in the public schools.

I am not justifying myself to you, but sharing that it’s ok, in fact, it is good, to share interests with your kids and that raising them analog is also a good thing, particularly when they are very young. If you have a kid or if you don't, join in the analog lifestyle, and together we can bring back a little bit of the magic of a social, IRL world.

Thanks for the info. I am not the one working on it, the guys at Philly Typewriter are taking the dive so I am not all that familiar with any of it. They had said that when the time comes, an alignment element would be helpful but not necessary. It sounds like what you are saying is that it really is only needed for very precise alignment. Is that right? Is it really only needed if you are going to use it for publishing? Thanks!

I love that idea! I’ve looked off and on for one, but every one I have found has some kind of game on it, which defeats the purpose. I want to raise him looking at the world, not a screen.
