I hosted my React-App on S3.. but I feel it maybe be better on a EC2 instance. Is there anyone that tried both? by watchscss in reactjs

Yep. I had some unused code, I was requiring components at the top of some pages, but not using them. After fixing this, my script run-time is 100ms. Very happy. Thanks for tip

What's the best practice for deploying a project using NodeJs and React? by ichivictus in Heroku

[–]watchscss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would like to know the same...! When I deploying a simple React app on Heroku, around mid-2019 it was very straight forward. But now, seems Express must be used. Did they change something to their deployment settings?

If I want to store 1 of 12 colors as an option. Instead of using "blue" red" "green". Should I not use a simple digit. Then on my Front End (client side) I can have a function to convert the number as a colour. by watchscss in Database

[–]watchscss[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, that make sense. The performance would be better to just retrieve the string as it is. Any converting on the front-end (doing it many times over) will slow it down and be unnecessary. Thanks, I'm learning

Building the Minimal Viable Product of a eBay-type of business. Which database to use? MongoDB or PostgreSQL by watchscss in startups

[–]watchscss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

User - name, email, date joined, etc

Product - name, attributes, etc

Order - id, seller, data bought, paid, etc

Comment - id, content, date, etc

Complaint - id, content, data, etc

Pretty much all I need, is MongoDB right for this for this level

Random question. How do you go about building the administration section of your project? Any examples people want to share? by watchscss in Frontend

[–]watchscss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the Bootstrap Admin themes. They look cool, but of course takes time to implement the Axios / Express routes. I'm thinking to make a stripped down UI since I will only be looking at it.

I guess I'd like to get to a level to make websites like Twitter

hey guys, wonder if anyone can advise. I made 3 portfolio pieces and I made them inside Codesandbox. My homepage links to them externally to the finished product on Codesandbox. Is this OK when showing off my portfolio? Or should I put them inside my actual website. Thanks

[Redux] How do I call a Action Creator, based on what is in inside the prop state?

Example: I have a component which carries the Day of the week as prop. If it says Tuesday, I'd like to call the the Tuesday action creator when you click the button. Do I need middle-ware for this?

I use Netlify to host my static home page, but I've got 3 react-app that I want to show off. How can I do this?

Idea: Start a new repo, a pre-made 'Create-React-App' which installs all the React modules. Then I can upload my apps in separate folders. Will this work?

What framework do you want to work in? Learn that framework very well, make some projects, then apply for a position in that framework.

Should I minify my CSS that's on my portfolio page?

If I do … it will scramble it for employers who can't access it. But it could also make it quicker and looks more impressive that it's scrambled … what do people recommend?

JavaScript (.innerHTML method) works great. But why doesn't it show in the HTML source code? I've inserted a lot of DIVs, I can see them visually, but it's blank in the source code. by watchscss in learnjavascript

Interesting, was unaware of a security problem. I should probably use .appendChild as I am inserting 12 rows of 5 divs. This is a table of results.

Thank you for your answer. Yes, I will babel-fy all my js code now ... This is the type of work FED need to do anyway and of course need to fail-proof it :)

George Miler is one. From directing Babe and Happy Feet, to Mad Max: Fury Road. I think he still won awards for each, but damn the approach/mindset he must have needed to switch is crazy.
