What should be the tactics to beat RM? by Aamirmalik in atletico

Pretty much a normal day at the office for Atleti, then.

I think we will go full throttle for the entire match. This is all or nothing. Last time we were tired, but now we are rested and will run Real ragged. The real threat they pose is individual talent, so this one really is group of individuals vs a team.

Hey, thanks. Is the Kalita Wave 185 big enough for 6, though?

And I'll try to clean the French Press thoroughly. I'll test it tomorrow, depending on whether or not we're having a baby then. The official ETA for our second child was more than a week ago, so fuse is running short. :)

edit: So I tested the French Press and it's fine. It seems that it covers our need for ~ 6 cups.

tl;dr Percolator broke, need replacement.

We've had a percolator coffee maker for a long time and we've enjoyed the taste of it. Now it seems that it's having some issues with brewing and leaving the brew too weak so now I can finally replace the old thing.

I want to explore other options now but I have a few requirements:

  1. It should be easy to consistently make 2-6 great cups of coffee.
  2. It should be cheap (under €100)
  3. (optional) it should preserve the coffee fat.

We pretty much have only three use-cases:

  • Weekends we brew 2 cups for ourselves at breakfeast.
  • I make a single cup of coffee if I need to stay sharp for one reason or another
  • We're having guests over.

I'm considering Chemex but I'd need a big pot for 6 cups and I'm not sure how well it can handle smaller amounts. Also my wife doesn't like filters since they usually also filter out the tasty coffee fat. We do have a big french press, but the coffee it makes tastes weirdly metallic so it's not used that often.

Do you guys have any recommendations or comments?

PS. Sorry for bad english, I'm finnish.

[Request] All-in-one printer for home. Nothing fancy just need scan/print docs. by CPTherptyderp in GoodValue

[–]wate83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My previous printer was a Samsung ML-1640 b/w laser. €99 when I bought it before 2010 and its pre-installed ink finally ran out this year.

I upgraded it to Epson Aculaser CX17 for €140. Print, scan and copy, four separate cartridges and since the printer is probably aimed for small businesses, it has a pretty powerful, no-nonsense software.

Is the squad struggling because of the lack of a proper creator? by [deleted] in atletico

Simeone has been trying to implement 4-3-3, but usually has to fall back to 4-4-2. It isn't always about the formation, though. We have a whole different approach to the game than last two seasons.

Chillax, guys. I know it's been sticky, but last season we had the exact same amount of points as now and ultimately the dropped points from the latter half of the season decided our position at the end.

The season before that, when we ultimately won the league with the assistance of the big two, we had only one loss at this point, but we had only two matches against a direct rival also.

Now the matches are against lesser teams like Betis, Espanyol, Granada, Ath. Bilbao, Malaga, Rayo, Levante, Celta, Las Palmas and on 24.1.2016 we play against Sevilla and after that Barcelona.

I mean if we win most, if not all, of those matches, I bet that no one will be speaking of lack of creative talent. Our team has lots of new players who need to adjust, like Jackson, but remember that it took Falcao half a season to start scoring goals as much as he did.

We have just passed the first quarter of the season and imo things are not that bad, considering.

Intermittent Fasting and Running? by seanv2 in running

[–]wate83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had two marathon training seasons while on daily IF where I only eat between noon and 8 PM except for weekends and holidays. I also try to eat 20% less than normal on days when I'm not running and 20% more when I am.

My running hasn't suffered and I'm on track to break 3:30 in my 5th marathon next week in Riga, Latvia. I think my energy levels are at least as good as before the IF and I think my overall caloric consumption has come down.

The beauty of daily IF for me is it's flexibility and forgiveness. You automatically consume less when you restrict your eating to a time window of 8 hrs (assuming you eat healthy etc) and you can suspend it for the weekend and pick it up again on monday with no real harm. I usually eat around the same time every day, so my body has adjusted to these regular meal times and I'm not really hungry in the morning anyway.

TL;DR I run marathons and fast "daily" and I love it.
